France has been a popular holiday destination for campers for years. And that is not surprising. Few countries have such a wide variety of landscapes as France. Whether you are looking for a warm beach holiday, a cycling holiday in the Alps or winter sports. You can find it all in France.
Most of France has a temperate maritime climate. Only the part along the Mediterranean Sea has a Mediterranean climate. In the highest parts of the Alps, one speaks of a high mountain climate. In France, one speaks of a four-season climate, which can all be clearly distinguished. The average annual precipitation is evenly distributed over the year, although the averages are slightly higher in the winter months.
If you ask someone the question "What is the best time to travel to the United States of America?", you can expect a question in return. Probably the first one will be "Where do you want to go in America?" followed by a second one "And what do you want to do on holiday?". These questions are a normal response, because the United States is so large and diverse that there is no one-size-fits-all answer. In fact, you can say that you can travel to America all year round, but that it depends on your destination and purpose what the best months are.
The name Netherlands is based on the flat landscape that dominates this small country. The Netherlands is located in north-western Europe. The weather is therefore partly determined by the influences of the North Sea and the Atlantic Ocean. It creates a temperate maritime climate with moderate grey winters and changeable summers in which there is room for warm and tropical days, but also the chance of cooler rainy days. Typical for the Dutch weather is that there can be regular and strong to very strong winds at the coastal areas. Particularly in the autumn and winter, the wind can become stormy or there can be storms.
Germany has a temperate maritime climate, whereby the geographical location and the landscape also determine the weather. There are a number of hilly areas, but in the extreme south of Germany there are real mountains that belong to the Alps. Despite the differences that can be found within Germany when it comes to weather and climate, there is a period that can generally be designated as the best time to travel to Germany. This is from May to September. This period does not guarantee pleasant weather, but it does offer the greatest chance of good weather for various travel purposes, such as city trips, walking, cycling, touring or relaxing.
Italy, the country shaped like a boot, is located in the south of Europe and is largely surrounded by sea. The north side of Italy is mountainous. Here are the Alps, with Mont Blanc, located partly in France and partly in Italy, as the highest mountain. The Apennines are another mountain range. This branch of the Alps forms the backbone of the peninsula and also determines the weather in large parts of Italy. The western side of the Apennines has a warm Mediterranean climate, while the eastern side has a warm maritime climate. Within the Apennines, you will find more moderate climate types. In the north, where the Alps lie, the temperate continental climate changes at higher altitudes to a cool continental climate and finally to a high mountain climate as soon as you get above 2000-2500 metres above sea level.
