Our journey from Colorado to Boston involved an overnight halt. We managed to secure a booking on the same day. The proprietor, Barb, was very welcoming and helpful. The camping site was adorned with numerous big trees providing shade, and a beautiful pond encircled by a trail, which was perfect for dog walks after a day of driving. The facilities were clean, including a bathroom with warm showers. Although the site was close to route 70 and a railway track, we barely noticed any noise during the night. We wouldn't hesitate to choose this place for a stay in the future.

We stayed at this charming park for one night. We called same day and they were able to get us in a pull through but with only 30amps and water. We made it work, not a big deal. The owner, who checked us in, was very friendly and explained clearly everything we needed to know. Our site was fairly level and had green space with a fire pit and picnic table. After we set up and because of the heat and humidity we went to the pool. It was a nice place to cool off for an hour. (It would have been nice to have a pool net so we could have cleared the dead bugs and some debris out of the water, but otherwise no complaints.) next to the pool is a covered patio which you could use for a large gathering. This place was very quiet! We had a peaceful night sleep! There is no store close by so have what you need in your trailer or expect to drive about 30 mins. to Effingham (we were coming from the west going east). We have a 36 ft. Fifth wheel.

We stopped here overnight on our way to Indiana. It was very convenient, right off highway 70. The campground was clean and the owners very friendly. Our site was gravel and level. We swam in the pool, which was very nice, but did not use any other facilities. We would stop again overnight.

We usually camp in the charming red barn rendezvous in Effingham, but it closed several years ago. We missed it like an old friend on the road. But, our luck, we found Okaw Valley Kampground, at exit 68 off I 70 east of st louis. What a gem! Beautiful grounds, level spots, great pool, 5 acre catch a d release pond, shaded lots, smooth gravel roads, spotless bathroom/showers, picnic table and fire ring at each site, most sites with a Lakeview. If you have extra people traveling with you, they have to cute little cabins they could rent, overlooking the lake. Peddle boats for rent cheap. We are so happy we stopped here. Barb and Gary are sole owners and operators, and with years of hard work, have resurrected this place to be a small oasis. It's like camping on a manicured park. Not much around re:restaurants, shopping, etc - what there is is in Effinghan (15 miles e) or bluff city (5 miles w). Highly recommend!

We stayed 2 nights in November 2020, and again 2 nights the end of April, 2021. the grounds are shaded and the sites level. All the hookups work. Maybe the pool is nice? it's been closed when we stopped. $40 is too much for this camp. Maybe when they finish overhauling it. The laundry is no longer functional. 3x3, with washers that don't spin well, and one drying not working. Don't plan on doing laundry here. Most of the grounds are well kept. It is a great spot for children to play. It's just far enough from the highway to be quiet, and though the train passes nearby, there's no grade crossings, so no horn blasting you awake all night.
