Rate is with taxes included. Road entering the park is paved, roads in the park are gravel as is the sites. Narrow spacing between sites with some grass between. Some tall pine trees. Large enclosed grassy pet area. No bath house, laundry, or pool. A minimal small play ground area for kids. Great location for Mount Rushmore & Custer national park.

Small, simple RV park with full hookups. Just outside Keystone, SD and about 4 miles from Mount Rushmore. The campground is alongside the state highway but it's down a hill and the grassy berm kept things remarkably quiet. The sites are all pull through, but slope at one end. Don't recall if they have a bath house. If you are going through the area, stopping for a quick look at Mt. Rushmore, this is an acceptable location for one night.

After traveling across country, with this being our first “main” stop, we were really looking forward to our stay at Holy Smoke due to its close location to Mount Rushmore. The campground is nestled next to HWY 16A and surprisingly wasn’t as noisy as one would expect. Our pull thru site, #20 should’t be considered a site at all! This site was located on the perimeter of the campground, almost like an add on site, parallel to the main one-way campground road. For hookups, there was only one way to pull into the site and it was literally two steps out our door and into the dusty road. No space for lawn chairs. Our picnic table was located in the back of the site right next to the sewer hookup. We also noticed that the “better”sites also had their picnic tables and sitting areas right along the previous site’s sewer/water. Stayed two of our four nights and left.

Staff was very pleasant. site was accommodating for our 32 ft TT and very close to the Mt Rushmore. There was also an excellent restaurant (Powder House Lodge) right down the street from the campground. We had that BEST prime rib dinner ever. Nice campers too. We could not get reservations at the Powder House Lodge on Sunday when we pulled in so the camping neighbors nexts to us shared their excellent barbequed dinner and fixins with us! Nice folks out there in SD. There's a close highway and tourist helicopter site adjacent to the campground that wasn't too bad.

I really like this place. It was clean and simple, no bells and whistles, just everything that you wanted (full Hook up) and nothing more. It was close to town (Keystone) and was close to Mount Rushmore. The price was satisfactory. I was happy with this place. Noise is a huge dissatisfier for me and even though this place was right on the road, due to the large berm that was behind us noise was not an issue.

Unfortunately a winter storm is heading in the day we are traveling to Holy Smoke Resort. We waited to see what the weather was going to do but it deteriorated overnight. Travel advisories were put out for the highways we would be traveling and we decided the risk was not worth it. I called to cancel my reservation and the lady who answered the phone told me they had already charged my card for the full amount and it would be non-refundable based on their policy. Even with the state telling people to stay off the roads and not travel they still would not refund our money. The lady on the phone became rude and raised her voice telling me she is only an employee so I asked to speak with an owner and she said that the owner hired her so she doesn’t have to talk on the phone. I asked to speak with a manager and the lady on the phone hung up on me. This is not customer service. I am appalled at the level of unprofessional behavior and the inability to see the possible hazards to our safety by forcing us to drive through the adverse weather because of their demand for payment. This is not looking out for the best interest of your customers. I would advise anyone looking to stay at the Holy Smoke Resort to look elsewhere!
