We enjoyed our stay at Skidaway. We only stayed 2 nights while passing through GA. Our campsite was a full hookup site and while you could see campers behind us and and the one directly next to us, it was still far enough away from everyone to be peaceful. Our left side (“driver’s” side) was up against forest. Our site was also pretty level. The proximity to downtown Savannah is great while still being out of the city. We only used the bathrooms once but they were nice and well maintained. We had a nice little area right across from us that we could walk our dogs to potty and then there’s also a hiking trail down the street you can walk to. There are raccoons that hang around so if you leave anything outside they will get into it but they didn’t bother us or the dogs while we were there. The checkin process was seamless for us, they called the day of and said that if we would be getting there after hours (which we did) that they would leave our pamphlet taped to the visitor center window. While we didn’t use it, the dump station seemed to be pretty busy the morning we left (Sunday) with a line of people waiting.

This is one of the most beautiful campgrounds we have been to. The sites are large and have beautiful oak trees and Spanish moss. The trails are well maintained and everything is centrally located. We stayed in site 85 before moving to site 3 so we could have full hookups for a few nights. When we were in site 85, we had daily deer visitors that came right through our campsite. Only a few sites have full hookups, but I think adding to that number is really the only thing they could do to improve the campground. It was very big rig friendly at least when we comes to the size of the sites, but some of the roads around the campground probably get a little tight. Even though there is water all around, there is no water access within the park. There is a launch only a few miles outside the park entrance, though. It’s an easy drive into Savannah for sight seeing. We used the park as our home base to explore the area and would do that again any time. ATT cell service was adequate, but not great. I could work without putting up the cell booster, but wouldn’t be good enough for anything requiring high bandwidth.

This park is beautiful. The sites are large and it is covered with live oaks. It is very close to Savannah, GA which makes it a good spot if you want to city camp. Dont miss Starland Yard in downtown Savannah. The best site is 58.

Nicely spaced sites; only 10 have full hook ups. Remainder have water and electric. Nicely spaced sites with lots of privacy. Clean and newer bathrooms/showers. Very convenient to Savannah sightseeing.

Skidaway Island Campground was excellent. Our stay at Skidaway was in November, 2021. This was our first time staying at a Georgia State Park, and the experience was outstanding. We had heard that Georgia State Parks were some of the best, and that definitely proved to be the case. Check-in was a breeze with knowledgeable and friendly staff at the Visitors Center. The campground had good spacing between sites with lots of trees and vegetation. The bathhouse facilities were well maintained and very clean at all times. Clothes washers and dryers were available in the bathhouses as well. Campsites had hook-ups for water and electric and pads were graveled and level. Some of the asphalt roads within the campground could have used some attention but were certainly passable. Verizon cell coverage was generally acceptable but was a little inconsistent....just took a little extra patience from time to time. The campground was an easy 20 min. drive to historic downtown Savannah which had fairly easy parking with great site-seeing, shopping, restaurants and bars. We really enjoyed our stay at Skidaway and will definitely come back.

Someone in a Facebook group recommended this state park when I asked about where to stay around Savannah. Their recommendation turned out to be a great one. There are a some sites that are pull-through and full hook-up and we are in one of them. Large sites. Lots of room between sites. Hook-ups were fine. Lots of trees which is probably great in the summer but a bit chilly in the winter months. Narrow roads with trees right next to them so navigating for some may be a challenge. Dump station conveniently located on the way out for most campers. Great staff - friendly and helpful. Nice visitor center. Trails for leisurely walks or bike riding. Quiet and peaceful. Close to a Publix grocery store. Not to far from downtown Savannah. No wi-fi provided so bring your own. There are Comfort Stations (restrooms) and laundry. Definitely recommend.

Site had plenty of room and a large tent pad which came in handy since we were without a tow vehicle last minute so we used two small tents instead. The office deducted $10 from the original $45 a night since we were in tents. Most sites were pull through and they are spread out enough that you have a decent amount of privacy. Bathrooms were a short walk but still close enough. They were cleaned daily and in working order. Laundry room was available and clean as well. Visitor center is newer and staff was very friendly and helpful. Our kids enjoyed visiting the snakes on display as well. Trails were all clear and pretty scenery. The lookout tower was a little underwhelming. The top floor was closed and the tower didn’t seem completely stable. Playground seemed fairly new and had a lot to offer and there is a nearly outdoor exercise area as well. Overall we really enjoyed the park. We have been once before and would come back again.

We could only get one night but it was still a treat to stay. The sites are separated giving your privacy from your neighbor. Power was stable and water had sufficient pressure. The tree covered site may pose a tad of a challenge for those using only solar but it’s worth it. The comfort station was very clean.

The park and facilities are very nice. Our campsite was near the bathhouse in our loop. The hiking is very is scenic and easy and gives you a nice way to discover coastal Georgia. My only complaint comes from making the mistake of leaving our water hose and filter at the campsite when we traveled into Savannah for dinner one afternoon. While we were gone either a work camper came by and removed it or it was stolen. Regardless, as we were leaving the next day park personnel were less than helpful in trying to determine what might have happened to the hose and filter. And that's really understatement. No help is basically what I got. The filter was relatively inexpensive, but the hose was not a cheap one. Our price per night reflects the discount we received which includes the senior rate that basically paid for the hose and filter that were stolen.

Our first experience with a State Park and what a great one! As Canadian Snowbirds on our first trip South for the winter, what a great way to start off the trip! The site was huge, the hook-ups were great, nice trails and close to Savannah. We highly recommend this State Park as the rates are reasonable for us over 62 years young, and it is simply beautiful!

As mentioned by others the spaces are well equipped and spacious. The restrooms and showers are well maintained (but have no paper towels at all). I wish they would have standard parking spaces at the restrooms but there is only parking for disabled permit holders.

Wow! I can't say enough about how great this place it. It is the most beautiful campground I have been in, with huge trees and spanish moss. Checkin at the office was easy and the staff super friendly. Our site was a pull in (electric only) and easy to get into and out of. We were plenty far from other RV's to feel like we had our own space. We did not use thier bathroom facilities, so cannot comment on those. We took several walks along the multiple trails in the park and saw many birds and other wildlife. One of the trails is also a bike trail if you would rather bike. There are several nice playgrounds a short walk from the campsites. At night we feel asleep to the hooting of owls. It is close enough to Savannah for easy day visits and going out to dinner. We ended up wanting to stay in the area for several hours after checkout and they let us park in thier large parking lot near the visitor center for the cost of a day parking pass.

Large sites, clean bathrooms, hot showers and clean laundry room. Showed up after hours and a welcome package was there as we were told by the friendly staff. Site was a bit difficult to locate in the dark but that was no fault of the park… Very quiet campground, nice hiking trails with lots of deer. Nice area to bike ride. Sites are very spacious, gravel pull thru with a large concrete pad, fire pit and picnic table. Close access to Tybee Island, grocery stores but a 25 minute drive to Savanah.

This is a beautiful State Park as other reviewers have stated. The sites are mostly very large and well spaced. They are somewhat open, however, as you walk past you can see everyone's set ups, but there is vegetation between sites. The rigs here are very large, too. We camp in a 15' trailer and there were only two others the same size and only a few tents. Perhaps there is a separate section for tents, but we didn't see one. The trails around the camping area are lovely and we enjoyed the many birds that serenaded at dawn during our stay in mid-April. There are also a lot of biting gnats and some black flies in mid-April. The bathrooms were clean enough, and the showers are free. Our site #47 had a fence separating us from the dump. It provided enough screening and the site is large enough for us not to mind, although it did get a little busy one morning. This site is also very dry as it's just slightly higher than the sites opposite us which are lower and back up onto vegetation, and we noticed they were pretty wet after a day of rain. Staff and volunteers were friendly. We would definitely stay here again if we are in the area.

This is exactly what I always pictured a campground to be. Large sites, lots of space between sites and clean and well taken care of. Most sites are pull through and not within 75 yards of the next site. The site we were in was on an outside loop so we faced the woods. The site was clean and even raked when we arrived. There are several sites that have full hookups. Mostly sites have are eclectic and water only, but with the added bonus of a cable tv hookup. There are several trails within the park and you are only about 20 minutes from downtown Savannah.

I can quickly add my agreement to the other reviews...beautiful, large, level sites, friendly staff. As soon as someone pulled out, the staff came and raked out the sites. Nice hiking trails and close to Savannah, 40 minutes to Tybee Island, and a Publix just around the corner.

Just a short review to agree with what everyone has written. We loved it! So easy to get in, even with a 45ft Class A, and plenty of room. Savannah is close enough for plenty of high-quality eating options. We made full advantage of the trails. We stayed 2 days as a stopover on a trip from Florida up the east coast. We love State Parks and seek them out whenever we can, and this is one of the best.

We really enjoyed our stay here. The sites are huge pull throughs. Perfect for big rigs. Fire ring and table on a gravel pad were included on our site. The sites had plenty of space to hang out and enjoy the palmettos and spanish moss that drape the campground. We particularly enjoyed the 6 miles of trails that brought you through subtropical forests, along the coastal waterways and included some highlighted historical and geological facts and features. The location is the perfect proximity to beautiful downtown Savannah. Cell reception was great on Verizon and AT&T which allowed us to work while we played. No wi-fi. They have water hookups here, however, the water pressure was so low that we opted to fill our tanks, disconnect and use our water pump. We camped through a weekend in October, and gathering families with children were abuzz. This would be the only noise of mention that we experienced. Totally quiet at night.

This campground definitely gives you the Savannah feel, with its palm trees and its gorgeous Spanish moss. We instantly fell in love with it. Also, the location of this campground is in close proximity to downtown. Our check in to the campground was simple, and the staff was friendly and helpful. The campground has some gorgeous hiking trails and biking ones too. They did have a washer/dryer which we used without issues. And the restroom facilities are nice, we didn't use them, just checked them out. This area is absolutely beautiful- just make sure you have bug spray on hand to combat them mosquitos! We would come back here in a heartbeat, and recommend this campground to our fellow campers!

We are moving on today after an incredible week spent at @skidawayislandstatepark. When we decided we wanted to RV full-time, this is exactly the location we had in mind. Our site was beautiful, clean, spacious and tree-covered. We had plenty of connectivity to work our 9-5 and had a peaceful, quiet space in and outdoors to do so. It was a short-drive (15 min) to the center of the historic district in Savannah, and we found easy, cheap parking every time; making it easy to explore and get the most of our days here. Most importantly, the park had nature trails (hiking/biking), nearby boat access for us to launch our kayak and laundry! This park is definitely on our list of places we’d like to return to. I hope you all will get to experience it too!

Earl and I arrived here on Sunday traveling north out of Florida headed to Maine. Worried we were running late and would miss the check-in time for our reservation, I called the Park office and was told that someone would be there to help until 8pm. Definitely took a little pressure off our arrival and provided a great first impression of Park staff. Arrival to Skidaway Island SP is via a dramatically shaded canopy road with.moss handing from the trees. Reception at the office was great. The rate paid includes a senior discount and an additional amount for the required parking fee. Averaging $19 per day, the rate was quite reasonable. A park brochure was provided along with directions to Site 42. The brochure is very well done...particularly for a SP. Great second impression. Our site was a smaller pull through with full hookups including cable TV. A little bit of leveling was necessary but not a big deal. WiFi was available only at the registration office but ATT pulled a solid two bars and it was enough to stream content. Skidaway Island SP is well located for exploration of Savannah and Tybee Island. We passed a Whole Foods on the way back to the Park and picked up a decent wine and ingredients for a campsite version of Low-country Boil. Bonus for have grocery options other than Walmart. Although short, this was a great stay. Earl and I would stay here again...maybe longer than just two nights next time.

I can't really say enough good things about this place! It's awesome. Pros: • Super large, pull through sites have camper doors facing the woods instead of the road, which provides a more private feel to all the campsites (I've never seen another park set up this way, it was cool) • Beautiful trails with historic sites and overlook towers that you can bike or walk • Close to a great grocery with a killer wine selection • Golf cart community near by, so you see golf cart parking at the stores and golf carts paths next to the roads which is fun • Super clean bathhouse • Close to Savannah, GA • Cell signal was good Cons: • A bit expensive (we were lucky and got a Memorial Day 50% discount)
