No real privacy, but very well organized and laid out.

I’m glad we had a good working shower in our trailer with full hookups because the showers looked like they hadn’t been cleaned in a long time and the mens restroom was out of toilet paper for several days, showing that no one was cleaning or monitoring the facilities. We were in space 82, a deluxe pull through, that was down wind from the very stinky and full dumpsters. When we inquired about the smell, we were told that trash p/u was on Tuesday, which was hard to believe because it was the day after (Wed) and they were already full. Make sure you realize when you book this RV park, that you are aware it is NOT in Yosemite, but is in the town of Coarsegold and is many miles from the South Gate of Yosemite. Our site neighbors made this error and were disappointed with the distance from the National park. All sites are dirt, with very little gravel. Pretty good Wi-Fi, for most of the time I had 2 bars. The office closes at 4:00 everyday except Sunday, when it closes at 2:00, so, if you arrive after that time you have to find your info envelope on the board across the parking lot. If you don’t fit into your site, you have to hope you can locate a couple of golf cart employees that can direct you to another available site. If you can’t find them, look for them playing horseshoes with the long term renters. We would probably stay here again, because there is a real lack of RV resorts in the area that can accommodate a large rig.

This campground is probably the worst I’ve ever visited! Most buildings look like they could fall down you. Restrooms are probably soon up for their yearly cleaning. Our next door neighbors (apparently they’ve lived in the ‘bungalow’ for years were having a very loud argument resulting in one of them being picked up by an ambulance….. Full hook-up site but with sewer placed higher that outlet from RV it was useless. As we were only 2 RV’s on the site we found a site too small but with sewer below us to dump. Calling this a RV Resort makes absolutely no sense. Only good thing was the Wi-Fi which was the best we’ve had on our almost 3 week trip

We arrived and we could not fit in our assigned space 92, we have a 41 foot fifth wheel toy hauler. They were very kind, after hours, came down and relocated us to site #21, we can not say enough about their kindness. Laundry room and bath house clean.

So, positive: location is great. It's about 1 hour to Yosemite Valley and a few minutes from downtown Groveland -with a nice grocery store and several good restaurants. The staff were excellent. I really feel they are doing the best with what they have. They were all very friendly and helpful. The shower house was clean with hot water and good water pressure. However, it's very expensive for what you get. I booked a "premium" pull-through - which was on a hill and would have been impossible to level no matter how many leveling blocks you had. All the B pull-throughs on that side were on an hill, so it's not like we just got bad luck with the site. The septic hookups are on the uphill side, it also backed up into our hose. Staff came out and unblocked it immediately, so it was fine. The sites are super tight. For example, our fire ring was directly under the neighboring fifth wheel's slide and the neighbor to the back of us was dangerously close to our truck and camper- within a couple of feet. The water spigots froze one night but after a few minutes we got it unblocked and luckily had an extra (unfrozen) hose.. which brings me to internet/cell. The system was down for 2 days and came back up on the last morning - with no cell service that made it impossible to check weather or park conditions when one might need to check the most. We had no idea that the weather was changing so drastically and so much from the last forecast we had checked. If you need to be close to services and the park and price is of no concern, this is a good option.

On arrival, which was approximately 1:30 on a Sunday, the office was closed and nobody answered the phone or returned messages. And there were no other RVs in the park. There was a paper posted that says do not set up in a site without checking in first. So we waited and about an hour later a gentlemen came walking into the park with his dog and asked if we were checking in, if so he could help us. Since we were the only people there we could have our choice of any site. What I had originally booked was elec/water only, we changed to the only full hook up site that we were told could accommodate our size, site 9. It wasn't too bad getting into it but the direction you have to go to get out was very tight and I wouldn't recommend it with an RV like ours. It was dirt/gravel and not super level but not horrible either. The wifi was fantastic but keep in mind we were the only ones there. We didn't use the bathrooms but the laundry room left a little to be desired. Cheap at $1 per wash and $1 per dry but with only 2 of each machine, 1 dryer broken and the other taking an entire hour to mostly dry a load, it wasn't the best we've used but it did the job. As others have mentioned, the place is rundown. The pool was drained and there was a very large tree down on the pool deck, the office never opened the whole time we were there or the restaurant next door but it was about 1 hour from the Yosemite Valley Visitor center or 30 min from the Hetch Hetchy entrance. This could be a much nicer place if the owners invested a little time and effort into it but it did serve it's purpose as a base for visiting the park.

We stayed here for a few nights on a whim in November. We didn't have reservations but got in same day on Veterans Day weekend. It is a nice, spacious park. Our site was a little close to others but had a nice view. We walked around and it is old but maintained. There was some obvious deferred maintenance but not too bad. We liked that it is about 90 minutes to Yosemite Village and 5 minutes to historic Coursegold. The casino is only 10 minutes away and had the best price in gas. There is some road noise but not bad for us. Overall, nice place!

Don’t come here if you aren’t self sufficient. Because there’s no one here willing to help you. We drove in during a red flag warning - 30-40 mph winds. When we checked in, we had power. But it cut off shortly after. We walked into the office to see what was happening. They told us it was common during high winds and low humidity for the power company to turn off the power to keep the risk of wildfires low. We asked if we could buy a few things and the woman said no, that they couldn’t do it without power. They were unable to write down and add it to our account when the power was restored. At that time I was annoyed but figured the power would be back on soon enough. Boy was I wrong. Around 7:30 pm we found the number to the local power company. They could not locate the campground address that was printed on the campground map, so we asked them to check for outages in Groveland, which there were. We signed up for text messages to get an idea when the power would be back on. We were THANKFULLY able to plug into our neighbor’s generator. We kept a small heater plugged in to keep us warm overnight. Lows were mid thirties, and we have two small kids. At 7:00 am we got a text saying the power outage was due to equipment failure and would be back on around 2:00 pm (so out 22 hours total). Our neighbors with the generator left that morning so we knew we needed to come up with a plan. We thought we could get propane filled at the campground. We went inside to inquire and the woman stated she was not allowed to do propane at that time. She clarified that no power was required to fill the tanks - just that she wasn’t able to since she couldn’t “ring me up” after. She said it was her manager’s decision. I asked, given the fact that there was no power, could she check to see if an exception could be made, and she said she had no cell service to communicate with her manager. She said she had AT&T and I told her that I was able to call out with Verizon service and asked if I could call the manager. She said that was not allowed. She gave me the business card with the general email address to contact the manager. I asked for information about places in town that might have propane. She said there was a hardware store in town. We got ready to leave and talked briefly about our plan for the day. We said we were going out to find propane but if there was none available (spoiler alert -there wasn’t), we would come back to the campground and reassess. We asked the office person about refunding money if we had to leave due to lack of power. The woman, again, was not particularly helpful. She said we’d forfeit a night and since we’d already stayed past checkout for the day that meant we’d be paying for three nights when we just had stayed one. We had reservations for 4 nights so it still would have made sense to leave if the power was not coming back on at a reasonable time. While in town we got an alert the power had been restored, so we headed back to get propane and get prepared to go to Yosemite. Thankfully it stayed on after. The good about this place - spaces here are of decent size and we had full hookups. The cell reception on Verizon was BARELY enough to call out, but I expected no reception at all. So, I guess that’s a plus. I paid for Tengo internet and it’s barely ok, but it was $5 for three days. It was fine for checking email. Dump station is $5 for campers and $15 for outsiders. I imagine the shop is ok when there’s power. And just to clarify - I understand the power outage was not the park’s fault, I just really was astounded by the lack of concern or assistance available, especially since it seemed to be a common occurrence. Perhaps they could better address this on their website. And I assume it’s not a huge deal to them as they’re one of a handful of campgrounds close to Yosemite on this side of the park, and their bottom line won’t change because of this review. But it is worth certainly worth noting. Had we been set up to boondock, perhaps I would have nothing negative to say. But for anyone who relies on the stated services (water, power, sewer), you need to know that when (not if - when) something happens here, the people at the office will be of no help, and they might just head home for the day if there’s no power…leaving you to figure things out yourself. You’ve been warned!

We really enjoyed our week in Yosemite and used this as our home base to explore. If you have a big rig or cannot get a spot in the park, this is just outside the entrance. Since the park is big, if you want to explore multiple areas, I would definitely recommend sleeping in one if the park campgrounds. The park was nice - full hookups and spots are shaded. The laundry was nice as well, at only a dollar per load (I would suggest using the dryer on the bottom). Also, we had no cell service, but the wifi was good enough to stream Netflix at night. Don't expect a resort though, as the pictures on their website can be deceiving - the pool is closed, the playground is just a swingset, and the place is a bit rundown. The manager was also very helpful with questions and anything we needed. We understood from him that there is a new owner who is going to rebuild the entire park, so things may change. All in all, it's expensive (as is everything in the area), but if you set your expectations and only use the park as a base to explore Yosemite, it's perfectly fine. Also, we were warned of a bear that comes through every night. We left out a decorative pumpkin by our door and sure enough it was eaten with only crumbs left in the morning. Be aware!

Yosemite Pines RV Resort & Family Camping was very easy to find right off Hwy 120 just outside of the charming little town of Groveland en route to Yosemite Nat’l Park. Reservations were easily made online only about a month in advance and were reasonably priced. Check-in was quick and easy inside a convenience store with hours until 8pm. I was given a high-quality map of the resort with rules and some fun facts about the surrounding area. The resort sits on a gently sloped hillside with plenty of pine trees all around. The roads are paved and in terrific condition with speed bumps every 50 feet or so. Our site was on the end of a row of mostly level, dirt, back-in RV sites with full connections. There were two more rows of these sites in our loop. These sites are pretty close together, but with sufficient room for our setup as well as for parking a second vehicle. There was a picnic table and fire pit provided, although no fires were permitted at the time we were there (August in California). In addition to the full-hookup sites, there were cabins, yurts, stationary trailers, and even covered wagons available for rental. The entire facility was clean and well maintained. In fact, about 30 minutes after our neighbors checked out, a woman came in a golf cart and picked up every tiny piece of trash. We were directly across the street from the bathrooms and showers, which were also very clean and well stocked. There were three large dumpsters in our loop for disposing of trash. The trash truck came very early on Tuesday morning and was about the noisiest thing we heard during our entire stay. The rest of the facility was very quiet. The highway is not far away, but road noise was very sparse. There was minimal cell coverage with Verizon, enough to make a call and receive a few text messages. WiFi could be purchased through a third party vendor for a very reasonable rate. Our kids really enjoyed the pool. The water was cool (not heated) but felt good in the 90-degree weather. The water was pretty murky - even with swim goggles I couldn’t see more than 5 feet in front of my face. There was also a playground, a tetherball court, a bocce ball court, and a volleyball court. The bocce balls can be checked out at the office for free. The deli is adjacent to the pool area and had ice cream and other treats available for purchase through a window. We did not try the gold panning due to hornets swarming the water but did see others trying it. The petting zoo was another big hit with our family. They have two donkeys, two large alpacas, rabbits, and chickens. Supervised feeding times are at 9:00am and 4:00pm. The Yosemite Nat’l Park entrance gate is about 30 minutes away, and then it’s another 45 minutes before you reach the valley. There was a lovely swimming hole with some rock jumping called “Rainbow Pool” about a 15-minute drive to the east. It’s definitely worth checking out. We didn’t go into Groveland, although it seemed very charming with some restaurants, a museum, and a park that was advertising an outdoor movie on Saturday night. All-in-all, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and were sad to leave. Our 9-year-old cried a little when checking out, and our 3-year-old kept shouting, “Go back to the river!” during the drive home. We will definitely be back.

For those visiting Yosemite entering from Big Oak Flat entrance from Highway 120 (Groveland), the intent is to provide pros/cons of this RV park with a couple suggestions outside Yosemite. • Stayed at the RV park for 1 week in July 2021 (hot week and during drought) • RV park is a 15 minute drive from Yosemite Big Oak Flat entrance • From Big Oak Flat entrance to Yosemite Valley inside park is another 30-45min drive • Spots 8, 9, 15 are the best for large rigs • RV full hookups were good quality and stable • Pool was out of commission, not sure why, it had water in it – drought? The hotel next door has an operating pool, if the RV park pool was in working order it would have enhanced our experience • The “office” is a small window near the gas pumps • The “store” was never open the multiple times we stopped by, no idea why, looking through the glass the shelves were barren – such a disappointment and missed opportunity for RV park to make additional revenue • The laundry room was somewhat functional • I booked this RV park based on website and photos, in reality it is very different - overall it’s rough but does the job, it won’t win any glamour awards – but again does the job needed • No Verizon or AT&T signal from our iphones • WiFi did work for streaming Netflix/Amazon but obviously reduced as the park filled-up • This property has such potential, it’s a shame to see it in disrepair with the need for TLC • Diner which is a quick 5 minute walk has amazing food and people are so nice! • If you enjoy waterfalls and natural pools, you must visit Rainbow Pool (2 miles away from RV park – easy access) and Carlson Falls Trails (near entrance to Yosemite – moderate to challenging 45min hike each way, but worth it)

It was a great overnight stop for us on our way to Yosemite. No AT&T cell service. Can get 1 hr of free wifi every 24hrs or pay for more wifi. The park is huge with a lot to do and different camping accommodations for all types. Easy asphalt roads throughout campground in the pines. Sites are spacious from neighbors. Gravel/Dirt back in site but pretty level.

Stayed for 3 days while checking out Yosemite. Was close enough to make day trips doable. Staff was great. Had a site in the bear loop which is a newer addition, no sewer hookups yet in it, though there was a spot to dump on the way out. Access in the campground was not bad, though allow for extra time getting to the campground as the roads are very twisty pretty much from any direction. Laundry was cheap at $1 per load, though the driers took a few runs to get loads dry. No AT&T signal on our phones, was able to get enough of a signal on the hotspot with external antenna to stream with. They do have propane on site for cash only, was $3.59 a gallon while we were there. There are gas and diesel pumps on site that take cards. Little bit of traffic noise, but not too bad. Would stay again.

Stayed here 13-16 October, 2020 We had a site near the teepees which was a quiet area with one of the largest sites we paid for on the trip. We are not sure what to make of the older reviews, but we selected this place as they actually had sites available, but found it to be very charming. The petting zoo, bocce ball courts, laundry, restrooms and other amenities were all very nice. WiFi was a token amount for free and ATT was intermittent at best. Lots of deer and turkey came to visit our site. We would have been comfortable staying there a week or more if it was in our itinerary. Staff were very friendly.

We stayed here for just a couple nights as a stop over on our travels. Our site #7 was very spacious with a beautiful big tree for shade and lots of grassy area for our toddler and dogs. A short drive away there is some decent local hiking spots and a beautiful waterfall. You can walk a couple minutes to a local restaurant from the campground. Overall a nice stop through campground. Our site was one of a few good sites, others were not as spacious.

Rustic RV park 12 miles outside the Hwy 120 entrance to Yosemite. Location was great. There are 3 sections to the park, the Coyote lot is not great, the B row had the sewer line uphill and the lot is dirt/gravel with no shade and the road to get in is a crazy steep grade. There is no WiFi coverage if that’s important to you. The pool was closed for repairs. Lower spaces are really nice and premium spots are shaded and have a nice yard area. The managers are the nicest people you will ever meet, there is on-site gas and a little general store.
