Located at the foot of Buffalo Mountain in Unicoi, Tennessee and just below the Pinnacle Mountain Fire Tower observation platform, Woodsmoke Campground is situated in the Cherokee National Forest just off Interstate 26 Exit 32, with the entrance only 1000 yards from the exit ramps. The well maintained gravel road easily winds through the woods to the check-in office. Unfortunately we had to arrive after dark, but staff were friendly and assisted backing in to site. Will definitely stay here in the future to explore Johnson City. No hwy noise as it is tucked nicely in the woods.

This is a gem of a campground! The owners are conscientious and take immense pride in their campground. They are taking wise COVID precautions which include closing the bathhouse and limiting access to registered guests. The grounds are wonderfully shaded with a stream running through. It’s quiet and peaceful and right on the doorstep of great hiking and other Appalachian adventuring. I will absolutely stay here again.
