We stayed here in order to take in the Laura Ingalls Wilder pageant (which was better than we thought it was going to be). Our checkin was a bit quirky - Mark (owner) knew we were coming in “hot,” as we had about an hour to unhitch, quickly set up and get down the road to the “show.” Although he said he wanted to get us in and on our way, his folksy chatter was a bit of a hindrance. It was all fine, and we got set up and on our way with time to spare. We had FHU, but ended up not connecting to sewer (our choice in the morning). The water was a bit rusty at first, but clearer as we ran it. There appeared to be mostly longer-term campers there (workers). The site was level, and near a slough. Pretty enough, but the campground was a bit cluttery. Some interesting history in the town.

This place isn't fancy, and the bathhouse is not good. But being totally self contained that isn't an issue. 50 amp power is good and clean, reading 123-125v on each leg. Our water regulator is set to 50 PSI and it is pegged. Sewer hookups work fine. Sites are big but not guaranteed to be level. We did fine leveling our 42 foot 5'er though. Weekly rate is very inexpensive. Next door to a Dollar General and a Grocery Store in town.

I'm slightly reluctant to add a review here, because this place is so perfect, I selfishly want to keep it to myself. Spot Campground is a diamond in the rough. It doesn't have a lot of bells and whistles, but good electric (30/50) and full hookups. What makes it special is that it's very low-key, and super easy to get into even with a big rig (42ft) like ours. You can't beat the price, and it backs up to a large pond/lake (with lots of catch and release bullheads and northerns), so you have an awesome view and place to fish.

The owner is super funny/unique, and only takes cash, but he'll help you get into the best spot for your RV and leave you to do your own thing. You aren't super far off the road, so sometimes you can hear traffic, but you're far enough off that it's not horrible. Plus you're in SD, so it's not a massive amount of traffic anyhow. Edit: I should say, there is no Wifi here, no big bells and whistles. No grocery store, although the camp ground is next door to a Dollar General. Just a beautiful cheap place to camp.
