I would echo what robertmusings said in their review. We also stayed in the newer part. The sites are huge, great for the bigger rigs. Full sun, although they have planted many trees that will help in the years to come. The only downside is that there is no bathroom in the newer section. You would have to walk a distance (or drive) to the main section to use their facilities. So I would only stay in this section if your unit is fully contained. Like most of the private campgrounds in the area, 75% (or more) of the campground is seasonal...but everyone we came into contact was very nice. Internet was great for surfing the net, but not so much for streaming. I had full bars with ATT. Had to pay for it ($3/day) We are already making plans to go back.

We stayed in the newest section. In 10 years this section will have partial shade similar to the section near the pond. Sections atop the hill are fully shaded. Connections vary from full hookups with 50 Amps to 30 Amps electric and water. Sites are clean, mostly level, and reasonably quiet considering access to I-94. Neighbors are nearby but not tight. Many sites have parking for a third vehicle (RV, TV/toad, guest). Check out the nature trail. The laundromat in Grass Lake is clean and offers large machines at reasonable prices.

Ponderosa Max

A very nice family campground. It's divided up in three different areas and there are a lot of year-round rentals. We were fortunate to score a site for the two months we needed to be here to help my mother move. They have daily, weekly and monthly rental rates. Kris was so helpful in finding us a site that would work for the time we needed to be here. We were in the 50 amp neighborhood which lacks the shade of the other two areas and closer to the expressway which means there was a bit of road noise but still, nice enough and easy for maneuverability. There are a ton of things to do for families, a sports court, a fishing pond, dog park, a pool and so on. After spending the previous month at Bruin Lake State Park, the thing I appreciated most was that there were no late night parties or endless barking dogs. The residents, whether regulars or transient, were all considerate. The facilities are adequate and clean and the overall grounds are like park-like. This will be my first choice of places to stay when I come back.

We stayed here this past October for a fall weekend trip with friends, we needed a campground with cabins and full hook up and this place fit that bill. We called to book in late August and were told that we had the best sites in the campground with a wonderful view. We were placed in the new area, which was essentially an over flow area that in perhaps 10 years of tree growth, might be nice. We can't blame the campground hosts, they can't control the weather but we had lots of mud. Parking to check in was essentially no existent. Check in went smoothly, everyone was nice to me though my fellow campers in our group had a different experience. I did have to use the public bathroom after we were hooked up to leave, it had quite a bit of mold in it and was used for those staying in the cabins. The camp sites in the more established area were okay, very tight and the long term/storage campers were run down. I do understand people can't always spend money on their camper but if your going to use it as a cottage, at least attempt to not make it look like a dump. Playground areas were plentiful and the dog run areas were nice, especially that there were two of them. Unless we were on our way some place and needed a pit stop, we would not stay here again.

Oh my goodness! I absolutely loved staying here! The staff was incredible and friendly, the grounds were extremely clean along with the bathhouse. We got great service through Verizon! Definitely would come back! There was a really cool pasture in the back of the campground where we saw Longhorns!
