I visited this location with a large 35-foot 5th wheel and parked my long bed pickup at site #51, an E only (30A), BI spot, for a nightly rate of $28, applying the Good Sam discount. The roads were paved with asphalt and the parking spots were filled with gravel. My spot was inclined both uphill and sideways, necessitating the use of two planks to achieve a level position. The area was fully exposed to sunlight. There were no obstacles when I was reversing into the spot, although I had to slightly veer off the road to manage the sharp turn. The spot was equipped with a picnic table and a fire pit. I had 2 bars of LTE coverage with Verizon, and a speed test revealed a download speed of 0.4 mbps. There was no Wi-Fi available, and I didn't check for over-the-air channels. I particularly liked site #52, which was secluded in the forest, offering more privacy. While many spots were sufficiently long, they had challenging angles for a larger vehicle like mine to fit into. My preferred spots with some or complete shade included: in the first loop - 8, 12, 24, 33, 52, 53, and in the second loop - the outer side of the ring was preferable (as vehicles were quite close to others behind them on the inner side) 81, 86, 89, 93, 95, 97, 104, 108, 109, 110, 113, 114, 115, 116, 120. It's worth mentioning that the camping area is distinct from the main park area and the roads are quite narrow, making walking or cycling somewhat risky, in my view. Also, ensure you have filled up with water before your arrival. The dump station was difficult to access with a larger vehicle. I would consider returning to this location if I happened to be in the vicinity

This was a lovely little campground and perfect for our one night stopover. Easy access for big rigs, spacious pull through spots. 50 amp, full hookup. Plenty of parking for our extra vehicle. Kids appreciated the nice big pool. Friendly, helpful staff.

I stayed here for 1 night - site #12 in the west loop. The staff was friendly and the grounds seemed to be well maintained. I loved that it was so close to Starved Rock Park (5 minutes). Electricity was available at the camp site. I wish that there was water at each site but luckily, we were able to fill up directly across from our campsite. If you have your hose connected, be sure to pull the diverter down so water will be redirected into the hose. There was a dump station at the campground entrance but we had issues with the hose working. Given the location, I would stay here again if I were to visit the park. I gave this 3 stars because I was comparing it to other campgrounds I've stayed at and the amenities they've offered.

This campground has wonderful spacious sites for big rigs. They are under construction but it did not effect our stay at all. Great hiking trail and very quiet and peaceful campground.
