went to sportsman rv campground around the corner 1st,. total mistake never go there, total dump, trash place had to leave quick,(he did give me a refund) came here at the last minute, they had a spot for us, they said pay for 2 nights get 3rd night free, we stayed Fridays, Saturday and Sunday night, left Monday. got charged 186 bucks? so not sure whats the free night? web page sage like 60 bucks a night but wheres one night free? but the camp ground is awesome, went to the restaurant and had a excellent dinner, the weather sucked so didn't use the pool. went for walks and all the people are awesome. called the VFW in town and was treated like crap, but Saturday we went there and i think it was cause we are outsiders again were were treated like crap so we left. I'm a life member of the VFW and me and my wife got treated like crap so we left. sandy i think her name was, she said she was sry. she tried. i said its not her fault. but o well. the grand lake rv resort is grand. i would stay there again, just don't go to the VFW,. the AMVETS was awesome, tho like the location of the laundry but never used it. looked the it was a nice pool but like i said, bad weather so we never used it. they did have a Halloween party Saturday night, i heard it was nice,LOL the WI-FI was the pits, even tho we have a very good booster on our rig, couldn't stream movies or anything, that sucked. its better to use the hot spot on our phone. in the mornings it works better. we would stay here again tho.

We needed a place for Thanksgiving week and Grand Lake had a spot. We were a little apprehensive since it was last minute and such a large RV Park with a golf course. But we heard great things about Grand Lake so we went with an open mind. We were not disappointed! Grand Lake was great! The staff was friendly and helpful. The grounds were immaculate. While Grand Lake is the winter location for many people from Canada and Northern US states it didn't feel like a trailer park. There is a restaurant on site, the Eagles Nest. The food was great and happy hour was awesome! The restaurant is right on the water, Orange Lake, and has amazing views. We would definitely stay here again!

The campground had a very comfortable, homey feeling. It was clean, cheerful and I liked that it wasn’t “cookie-cutter”! Each site had its own unique layout, even though it was side by side. We felt like we had plenty of privacy. I would choose shade and slab if an option. The restaurant, Eagles Nest was very good. We loved sitting in Adirondack chairs on the dock watching the sunset. Pool water was very hot in July, not refreshing at all. We did have our credit card stolen in the laundry room when we accidentally left it in the slot. The person charged $1000 before our credit card company alerted us. There were beautiful horse farms in the area, great restaurants like pizza at The Depot, history like Marjorie Rawlings house.

Great place and amenities. Poor internet coverage with ATT. Enhanced internet is $15/week and is unusable. Basically no cell service so if you want to be disconnected, stay here! You’re close enough to cities to have a lot of options.

If you don't care to be near Orlando, Tampa, or any of the touristy areas, then this might be a spot for you. It's a bit pricey, but it's large, well maintained and the Cell service is phenomenal. Verizon bandwidth is 34/22 and 4 bars. The AT&T bandwidth is about 12/7 with 3 bars. They also have park WiFi, but honestly, with this type of bandwidth and an unlimited hot spot account, I just can't get excited. There's a beautiful enclosed dog park that's at least a half acre in size and a 9 hole golf course. The restaurant looks nice and has outdoor seating. I'll update the review if we get a chance to try it out. The pull through sites are really long, though not that wide. If you like large sites with lots of grass, this could disappoint you on that score.

Overall we liked this campground. Quick review: - lots of amenities (Activities like pool tables and tennis courts, a heated pool, golf course, boat dock) - no playground - clean and well taken care of - sites close together - campground is kind of far out, 15 mins from any food or gas stations - huge campground - lots of permanent residents - restaurant on grounds - dog friendly Arriving at this campground, we got our packet of info at the gate out of a glass sliding case (I’m not sure if this is typical or only something they’re doing because of Covid/no contact) The campground is huge and located on a golf course next to a lake which is just beautiful. The park is full of permanent residents who were almost all couples over 50 (we visited here during January so that may had just been due to the season we were there) but having so many permanent residents made us feel like were “intruding” when we first arrived. Luckily, we ended up feeling more at ease with each person we came in contact with because all of the residents were so friendly and loved our kiddos! There is not a playground here but even so, we really enjoyed it here—the kids just wanted to stay by the heated pool most of the time anyway. One of the best things about this place is that there is so much to do! Activities like a gulf course, tennis courts, pool tables, and a heated pool could easily keep you entertained for days. There is also a general store and a restaurant on the campground near the boat docks which we thought was a great idea, but we never went into either places to check them out. There is a dog park on grounds and it seemed everyone had a dog there—very dog friendly. This campground is off the beaten path, and about 15 minutes away from any food or gas stations. We tried the pizza place nearby “five star pizza” which was pretty good. The plus side to location for this campground is that it is right between Gainesville and Ocala which is why we chose to stay here—to visit both cities for their state parks. This campground was clean and taken care of, there was a lot to do, everyone was friendly, and it had beautiful scenery. Overall we would stay here again!
