Family Owned And Run Campground. Owners very involved and workampers very friendly and helpful. Ideal Home Base For Seeing The Sights Of Which There Are Many. Don’t Cut Your Time Short. Allow About A Week In Order To See And Do All The Great Adventures. Campsites For Camper Are Level. The Owners Have Made A lot Of Improvement Over The Last Few Years With More To Come. Standard tent sites, electric tent sites, Tipi, Kegs and cabins. Dog park and lots of room for the kids to run around. Clean family style restrooms.

Drove here from Florida on our first major RV trip and was pleasantly surprised. September 2021. You never know sometimes by just seeing a place online, but this one was a keeper. The whole place was well kept. All the buildings, bathrooms, offices, playground, etc. Loved the trees. Safe for the kids to run around and has a nice big play area as well. Visited Rushmore, Crazyhorse, and Custer State Park while there. All within 30 driving time. We will definitely stay here again when we come back to this area.

While sitrs are close together, as they are in most RV Parks, at least there are a lot of trees, so most sites have at least some shade. Nice play area for kids, nice dog area. Sites are fairly level. Staff very nice. Overall quiet except for some road noise for eyes on that side. Although it says they have WiFi, I could not connect to it the entire 5 days of my stay. A call to confirm the password brought no response. Also, garbage bins were almost full when I arrived and were not emptied during my stay. Luckily I was not near garbage bins, sites that are would have smelt them. It wasn’t over Labor Fay weekend, so perhaps there was a delay. Bathrooms were clean, if a little run down. There were several bathrooms each with toilet, sink, shower and small hot water heater, so no chance of running out of hot water. Water pressure could have been a bit better, but overall adequate. Laundry looked clean but machines small so I just went to local laundromat.

Our time at Fort Welikit was very comfortable. We got site #44 (back-in W&E) and though the site is sort of on a tiny hill, we loved the view behind it of meadows and trees. The bathrooms are private rooms with a shower and toilet in each, which was really great! The laundry room was also easy to access and use, with an additional laundry room with bigger machines for large loads. We were also able to fill our propane tanks here. For the last two days of our stay we were moved into site #35 (pull-through, full hookups), which was huge and also lovely. Our price reflects the site #44 rate with a Good Sam discount The campground is super close to the town of Custer, as well as Custer State Park (it's on the road to Needles Highway and Sylvan Lake). Got both Verizon and AT&T no problem.

Excellent Verizon signal (80 dn/16up). AT&T (2dn/8up) Park WiFi (10 dn/1 up) WiFi with booster (22dn/6up) Camp is well cared for and bathrooms are cleaned every day. Staff is helpful and friendly. Laundry is expensive. No pool or tennis courts, but close to all the black hills have to offer. Children seem to really like the playground

We love this campground: we just finished our second stay here, which lasted just over five weeks. It’s a private campground with a state campground feel. You get the amenities of full-hookups, on-site propane, a laundry room, and a small camp store while being surrounded by tall pine trees and treated to glimpses of deer and wild turkeys. It’s a great base camp for exploring the Black Hills area. Sylvan Lake and Needles Highway are just 10 minutes up the road; drive the opposite way and you can reach the town of Custer (with its shops and restaurants) in 5 minutes. The southwest entrance to Custer State Park is also about 10 minutes away. There’s a Verizon cell tower less than a mile away, so we had incredible bandwidth: we could get as much as 200 Mbps down and 50 Mbps up with our Verizon Jetpack hotspot and a MIMI antenna. Our AT&T signal on the other hand was fairly weak. The campground is kid and dog-friendly: the kids have a small playground and a simulated Old West fort to play in, while dogs have a small dog park to run off-leash in and plenty of trees and grassy areas. Most of the RV sites are back-in sites, and because of the trees some of them can be tricky to get into, but if you get stuck you can ask the campground staff for help and they’ll get you into your site. There is some road noise during the day, especially if your site is near the road that goes by the campground, but it’s quiet at night.
