Falcon Meadow RV Campground

11150 Highway 24
80831, Falcon
Colorado, the United States

We are a small rural family campground on Colorado’s high plains. Open all year, Falcon Meadow RV Campground is located on US Hwy 24 about 15 miles east of downtown Colorado Springs and about a mile west of Falcon town center. We have big, full hook-up pull thrus for the big rigs (20-30-50 amp) and tent sites large enough to spread out. Our 36-site campground is at 6,800 feet altitude, looking across the 20,000 acre Banning-Lewis Ranch with Pikes Peak (14,110 feet altitude) in the background. Happy camping and RVing.

I wouldn’t call this a campground. I would call it an old trailer park that they tried to turn into a campground. If we weren’t tired and having difficulty finding somewhere to stay in the area, I would have left immediately. We stayed on site 22 and then had to move to site 28. It is a family run business but no one is spending money on it. The entrance is off a busy highway and you have to get around the gas pumps, which is difficult when customers are pumping gas. Lots of highway noise. The interior roads are mostly dirt with a little gravel and major potholes. The sites are packed together in weird configurations making it difficult to maneuver. It is mostly full time residents here and they are not well kept. There is a basketball court in the middle of the campground, a swing set, old, buried tires and a broken golf cart that make up the “playground”. The back of the campground has several dilapidated buildings at the edge of the property that remind me of a Halloween exhibit. The bath house looks new on the outside but the inside was dirty and looked like it had a new skin on a rotten core. I refused to use it. The only positive I have for this “campground” is the laundry. The machines all worked and looked clean. We do not plan to return.

I have to disagree with many of the low-rated reviews here. Pros: Upon our arrival, both ladies working were very nice and helpful, this after allowing us to arrive 1.5 hours early. We were escorted to our site and briefed on what we could do if we need anything. Their office hours are longer than most campgrounds I'm aware of, which is nice. We had plenty of room away from other guests, simply due to the layout of the park. Cons: It can get VERY WINDY! We had in the neighborhood of 40 mph one evening we were there and you could definitely feel it. Also, we were VERY close to HWY 24- so close that we were praying nobody would run off the road and hit us. There is a slight berm with a short stone wall on top, but it won't stop anyone. It is dirt and dust, but not out of control. There are lots of restroom and shower facilities, some of which are brand new, so they are making some improvements. Also, while there are some trashy-looking, permanent RVs, we never felt unsafe by occupants or shady activity. Oh, and don't rely on their weak, unsecured WiFi for anything. This would never be a 1st choice destination for us, but we would stay here again without hesitation if needed.

Rate was $45 plus tax. We had site 13 at the back and we were facing a field. We had a great view of Pikes Peak. Some sites don’t have sewer and are $42. We didn’t hear much of the road noise. There are some full timers here that leave early during the week.

After searching through many parks which were full, we found this one. A little out of our way but they had a cancellation and we were able to secure a few nights. We were close to the road so there was a lot of traffic noise, especially as people are heading into town for work in the mornings. A little unexpected but the city is growing up all around this area, which used to be ranch land. We appreciated the easy going vibe of the park and the off leash dog area, which is completely fenced in. The laundry is pretty old school but adequate, I don’t know about the showers since we showered in our trailer. Overall, we would stay again.

I have to disagree with several of the other reviews. This is a return visit for us. The park address is 11150 Highway 24, Falcon, CO 808312 but the GPS address is Peyton. The park is convenient to visiting in Colorado Springs but not right in the city; it is only about 15-20 minutes to places like Garden of the Gods, Air Force Academy, Cheyenne pull through sites and back in sites. There are 46 sites (some are seasonal and some are full time) that have full hook ups; there are also 13 sites with water and electric but no sewer. There are also some tent sites (3 of the tent sites have electricity). They have a store, gas station, propane, dump station, laundry, playground, dog play area, new restrooms and showers, wifi and a community fire pit. Both Verizon and ATT cell signals work here. The Wifi works for us and we are way in the back in site 13 which is a pull through with a wonderful view of Pike’s Peak! The site isn’t great for our portable Dish due to shade trees, but we get enough OTA channels for us. Each site had a picnic table and two Adirondack chairs. Many of the sites haves shade trees. We will stay here again.

Stayed here in January 2021 for over a week. Discussed monthly rates for the summer at that time. Dee and Jim discussed while holding the phone away from their ear about what lie to tell us for why they wouldn't accept us in our fully renovated 1990 class a motorhome, because it is older than 2000. When asked about why we couldn't stay now but did 6 months ago, they said "well we are having to turn people away because we are full," after already asking how many nights we wanted to stay. We enjoyed this campground when we stayed in the winter, but now that it is summertime they only want to accept people that are from out of state with new rigs. Not to mention this discrimination against us because of the age of our rv is occurring while they have multiple permanent RVers in their campground with rigs older than ours. Wifi is supposed to be available throughout the property, but is actually non-existent beyond the office, and overpriced gas station. Not to mention their propane cost is always around $1.00 more per gallon than Big R, Tractor Supply, or local propane dealers, even Uhaul has cheaper propane. Extremely disappointing, and would not recommend anyone to stay here. There are many other great campgrounds just a few miles up towards Woodland Park. If you can't make it up to Woodland Park or literally any other campground, just pull off on the side of the road somewhere, even having to deal with police officers because of being illegally parked would be a better experience.

Spent one night here. It's right off the road so lots of traffic and road noise and lights. They packed them in really tight. Dusty dry and dirty. Needs a serious makeover. It does have a decent off leash dog park and the mini market. Sketchy people around, some appear to be there full-time. Would never stay here again. $30 for no electric hookup and a shower that was pretty far away

The good things about this place is that it is the cheapest campground/ RV park in or around Colorado Springs and you can usually get an open spot. The sites are big enough for big rigs (our 5th wheel is 41’ and we have stayed in many of the sites). The water and electric have always worked fine for us the many times we have stayed here. It also has really large fenced in dog space where I play fetch with my dog. However, it is all weeds and I have to pick out stickers when she is done playing. It has plenty of places to grab fast food nearby and there is a Walmart about 5 minutes away. That concludes the good things about this place. We stay here a few days a year because it’s cheap, has hookups and the Internet used to be very good. You could even stream on Netflix it was so good. Good internet is very important to my husband and I because we both work from the road online. When we stay here, it’s usually just to catch up on work before heading out. This year it has been horrible. We stayed a week in August and a week in October and the internet was so bad, we had to go to some friends who live nearby just to get some work done online. Not sure if they changed providers or what. They don’t put any money into this place at all. The dirt roads and sites are pure fine dusty dirt I’m not sure if they have even heard of gravel. Even the “grass” in the middle isn’t really grass but pure weeds. I sleep with ear plugs at night because the highway noise is so loud. Also, if you aren’t familiar with the area, just know that this is located in a tiny town about 20 minutes east of Colorado Springs, so there is nothing close by of interest to tourists. It also is super windy here a lot in the winter especially. If all you need is a place to park, hook up your rig and have water and electricity, and don’t mind staying in a dust bowl, this place will fit the bill. Just don’t expect any internet, grass, beauty, or entertainment. Since the internet is completely unreliable, we will not be returning as it was the main reason we stayed here.

Every other RV park was full. Tried this one on a chance. Felt safe, but very dusty no grass. A lot of road noise. I would stay again if I could not find anything else.

We are here in summer and this area is jammed. We could not find availability within a 20 mile radius of Colorado Springs and there are a lot of Campgrounds in the area. So reserve early!!
