In general, the park was in good condition. The grassy areas were nicely groomed and the camping spots were adequately distanced from each other. Every spot came with a picnic table and a place for a fire. It seemed they took note of past feedback because the pit toilets were neat and well supplied with toilet paper, hand sanitizer, and air fresheners. The cost was $20 per night, which I believed to be a fair price. The location was ideal with easy access to the picturesque highway 14 and a simple journey to Sheridan. I wouldn't mind returning to this place.

Quiet peaceful along the Tongue River. Pit Toilets clean. Convenient to I90. Water. No dump station.

I was hoping to find a dispersed site just up the road at Tongue River but all the sites were taken so I opted for this as I needed just one night on a drive thru. They call this a State Park/Historical Site but basically it’s a town park on the edge of Ranchester. The locals play in the river, picnic, and walk their dogs. It could be a nice park with a little maintenance. The bathrooms are pit toilets and they were disgusting. It’s obvious they don’t get frequent service so they were smelly and filthy. There is a train track nearby so a few times in the night you hear the whistles. It was tolerable for one night but I’ll pass on this place in the future.

Lots of trees. Quiet. Bathrooms were not great, but perfect overnight after long day of driving.

We stayed while on our trip to South Dakota. Really needed a break from a long drive. We had planned to just spend 1 night, but it was so pleasant we stayed longer. It’s a small county park right along a small river. It’s shaded with large trees. There is a playground for the kids. Lots of locals walk their dogs but it wasn’t a problem. You can hook up to power for an extra $10. The price was $16 for non residents but only $9 for residents. A really sweet spot.

After an 11-hour day on the road this was a perfect stop for one night. Relatively quiet with the exception of the freight trains traveling through Ranchester. Suggest staying in the sites near the creek at the beginning of the camp ground loop. Sites are basic with gravel pad and picnic tables.

This park is simple. clean and not packed with rv's. It is used by plenty of walkers, dog friendly, level spaces, both pull thru and back in plus day use area. We stayed in a pull thru next to river. Cell was decent with Verizon and excellent toilet paper... it's the little things!

We are part timers and work from our 5th wheel (so we need Verizon LTE) we have a solid 2 bars LTE. Great spot, on the river, great shade. We are able to ride our paddle boards on the river and ride bikes into the small town from our site. Showed up on a Sunday around 4:30 pm in July. Campground is about half full. Had to fill water up near the restroom. Playground but due to Covid are not letting our kids play there. Sites have good amount of space in between. There is some traffic and occasional train in the distance, but not too bad.
