Visited this location recently and previously in December. It's a pleasant spot with ample space between camping areas. The serene environment is ideal for strolling and cycling. An excellent fishing location is situated about three-quarters of a mile away. The roads are somewhat sandy, making it unsuitable for low-riding vehicles. Definitely planning to revisit in the future.

Finding the campground is not easy. The GPS tried to lead me down Fire Tower Red, and then to a Correctional Facility. The road to the Campground is a sand washboard road that limits speed to about 20MPH. The best approach is to start at RT 40 and head the five miles south on the sand road. There is a locked gate, you’ll need a reservation to get the code. The sites are the largest I’ve ever been at. Site 1 has enough space to comfortably fit six RV’s. There is a hanks pumped water pump. The site is filled with palms and beautiful live oak covered with Spanish moss. If you want a get away place, with plenty of space, this is the place. There were two other campers at the campground during my visit.

We spent 2 days at this campground. First the positive... Easy to find and Big Rig Friendly(35' 5th Wheel). Most sites are pull though sites. It was quiet and peaceful, a few small airplanes during the evening. We did not hear a single generator during our stay!!!!! There are bear proof garbage cans, and a single outhouse. Picnic table and fire pit at each site. On the negative side, the road going in has lots of washboard. There is no water - BYO. Just go slow and you'll be fine. The biggest downside to us is the cost. By the time you pay per night fee of $8.50 the reservation fee $6.50 and the taxes (there are 3). The price is high considering all the Wildlife Management and Water Management areas in the area where camping is almost free. We would stay here in a pinch if needed.

Huge private sites under an oak canopy. Quiet and beautiful. Senior Florida residents stay at half price. Not very busy in January so had the whole park to myself 5 or 6 days. Very close to the speedway. Dirt road part of the way but maintained.
