My overall rating of three stars applies to tent camping at these sites, not camping with a trailer or van, which I would rate zero stars, as the sites are designed for tents. The image of the individual with the compact trailer could suggest that one site may be suitable, but we didn't come across it. The Avery Creek sites, which are easily accessible via FS 477, were being considered as a potential location for a 3 or 4-night stay in April, but we explored the entire road and found none that could accommodate our 19-foot trailer. All parking is directly adjacent to the road, with space for only cars or possibly a van in a tight spot. As a lifelong backpacker and tent camper, I found the sites to be in a stunning forest environment and not too close together, but they were mostly near the road. These sites would be adequate for tent campers using the area as a base for mountain biking, but they're not exceptional.

Drove through all full sites Sunday night , but were able to find an available site Monday morning. 30 minutes from DuPont it was a good place to get a few different rides in.

These sites fill up quickly and many are intended for tent camping, but we found one with a big enough parking area to fit our truck and 16 ft camper. Just a mile from the stables it was a perfect commute for a couple of mountain bikers looking to get a few days of riding in. 15 minutes from downtown Brevard, I’d happily stay here again. No frills, but location location location.

We drove here to camp but it was all blocked off with a sign explained why they closed due to people not respecting the campground. On the website it said it would open back December 21st 2020 but they might close it down for good. Could be a good place to camp if it was opened. Side note, be a good person and pick up your trash.... just don’t be a jackass
