On the whole, this location was quite acceptable. As some have pointed out, it is situated adjacent to a major road, which can be somewhat noisy, but it didn't disrupt my sleep. There are a couple of pit latrines within walking distance, but during my stay, they were extremely unclean and had a terrible odor, so I chose not to use them. A handful of individuals visited during the day for some fishing and beverages, but they were not disruptive, and I wasn't disturbed by anyone. I did have access to AT&T service, so I would likely consider a return visit, even if just for a single evening.

A charmingly neat camping ground situated near the I-70 highway. I checked in late in the evening and departed early in the morning. The camping sites are well-maintained with gravel, fire pits and lush green spaces. Although the camping spots are quite adjacent to each other, it was completely vacant when I arrived on a weekday. The proximity to I-70 does mean that the sound of traffic and occasional distant car lights are noticeable, but it's generally a wonderful spot for an overnight stay. There was no T-mobile network coverage within the campsite, however, a short distance away on the nearby road, I was able to get approximately 2 bars of 5G signal.

The bridge is fixed so you no longer have to worry about coming in at exit 89 on I-70, you can use exit 98 if you're traveling West bound. Traveling East you'll want the Blackwater exit, 89 off I-70. The internet was challenging but not a complete show stopper. You're very close to Booneville, 20 minutes, which has a Walmart. We visited that town on our 2nd day, after much needed rest, for groceries and fuel. Didn't see a propane refill readily available. Had company of campers coming and going. Nice spot, thank you Blackwater and Missouri Department of Conservation. Next time through, when not so rushed, you get my tourist dollars. Okay, there is some I-70 noise. The Campground is right alongside the Lamine River which means an I-70 bridge over the river. You can see the traffic and some trucks seem to hit that bridge just right. I will say it's no worse then some of the loud rumblings I hear at night from ther other side of my bed, and I won't name names.

Bridge is being replaced on the east side of the river so you must enter from the Blackwater Exit. Yes, drive around the road blocked signs as they still have the boat landing and camping spots open to the public. My eyebrow went up when the sweet gas station clerk told me the same thing but my after dark arrival went smooth. Earplugs are a MUST if you want any sleep. Only a handful of level and gravel sites backed to the river but it is next to the interstate overpass. I don’t mind sleeping with earplugs and slept great. A fellow customer in the gas station told me the local rowdies used to go down there and drink under the bridge but can’t now.🙂 Great stop for the road trip.
