Newnes
Large open campground surrounded by native bush, by the Wolgan River. This is a great family campground (and is quite popular with them at times). The camping area is very open and grassy, so makes a great spots for the kids to play.
Batehaven
Leave your cares behind. Set on the pristine beachfront ofthe Eurobodalla Nature Coast, this resort style park hasprivate cabins, caravan and tent sites, playground, pool,jumping pillow, tennis and mini golf.
Barramunga
Very pleasant valley camp by the small Gellibrand River. About half the sites are well shaded by groves of different furs, other sites are open with a scattering of oaks, pears, plums and apples. All sites level, well grassed (mown by kangaroos). Dogs on leads. Rated at 4.
Blue Mountains National Park
Among low bush and scribbly gums, this is a very attractive campsite close enough to Sydney for a quick nature fix. The camp sites are fairly level and mostly grass. There is a fire pit and picnic table at each campsite.
Fairly open campground on the banks of the Murray River near Mannum. Great little spot if you need or want to be right on the river, with boat ramp access. It is definately not the most secluded of sites and you will likely be sharing it with other campers however quite comfortable.
A large flat camping area in the pine forests (slash pines) near the Watagan MountainsThis campground is very spacious and shady with wide open areas kept free from undergrowth by the large pine trees (these were planted as a trial in the 1920s).
Glenaire
A large flat and grassy campground on the Western Side of the Aire River suitable for large groups and caravans. The nearby boat ramp makes launching a canoe nice and easy and this is a great spot to base for a kayak fishing trip. You can paddle all the way up to Lake Craven or south to the ocean.
Mumbannar
A relatively large, open, level, grassed clearing by the wide and deep lower Glenelg River. Suit a group of >5 families camping Bush setting but with little shade. Spring brings wildflowers and orchids. Kangaroos and emus are common in the surrounding forest. Prolific bird life.
Kosciuszko National Park
On the edge of Three Mile Dam in the high country of Kosciuszko National ParkIn the summer, this is a spectacular alpine lake surrounded by snow gums, in the winter it is a white wonderland and the lake can freeze mostly over.
Jugiong
A very large donation-fee showground campground, with Murrumbidgee fishing opportunities on one side, and a rest area at the other. The more peaceful campsites are on the far side of the sportsfield besides the river, away from the constant traffic to the rest area.
Condobolin
A free council-provided campground/caravan park that is extremely popular with the Grey Nomads, not in the least because of the free hot showers.
Kangaroo Valley
This is a huge, grassy campground on the edge of the Kangaroo River, near Kangaroo Valley. This is an extremely popular campground during peak periods however they have a second site (normally behind a locked gate) that they open up during holidays and long weekends.
Balliang
Dispersed designated parking areas along the road end located in a saucer valley near the NW edge of the Brisbane National Park. Site layout suites car/tent camping rather than motorhomes/caravans. Parking layout inhibits long rigs.
Forrest
Located in the narrow, forested valley of the Barwon River East Branch. Most of the camp area is a cleared, grassed hillside with a few small flat benches cut into the hill - best for tent camping. Well shaded by tall Mountain Ash.
Guyong
A great, large campground, suitable for caravans in Vittoria State Forest, west of Bathurst NSW. This is a large grassy campground with scattered Blakely's Red Gums, Stringy Barks and Apple Box trees for shade. There are walking trails and a lookout with excellent views of the MacQuarie Valley.
Laidley Heights
Well established campground run by council on the edge of Lake DyerLake Dyer is a stocked impoundment (so QLD fishing licence is required). It is stocked with Bass, Yellow Belly, Silver Perch and Cod.
Birchmont
A great spot suitable for caravans right on a white sandy beach on the eastern side of Harvey Estuary. There are basic facilities and flushing toilets. This spot is popular during the peak season (Easter long weekend especially) and day visitors chasing the blue swimmers.
Anglers Rest
Large, open campground on the banks of the Cobungra River. The river here is quite attractive and offers anglers and kayakers a place to play.
Glenluce
Bush camping (no facilities) on the banks of the Loddon River. Most of the site is a cleared level paddock, well grassed but open to the road and shaded by one fir tree. May be boggy when wet.
Burrowye
A large river-side reserve, with a grassed open paddock by the road and tiered river flats by the river where white trunked Manna Gums, willow and wattle provide some shade to grassed sites. Features long pebbly river beaches and a pleasant rural outlook.
Dartmoor
Pleasant, extended, well grassed flats by the Glenelg River. Good shade from River Red Gums. Rating 4. 18/5 Jetty Major Mitchell established a base camp here while taking his boats down the Glenelg. Thus the common name Fort 0'Hare. Now a popular canoe launching point.
