We needed a place to stay in Riverside that would be close enough to Benedict Castle that we would not have a long commute. This park is only 10 minutes and an easy drive to downtown Riverside. I attempted to book online but same day check in is first fine first serve. However the staff stated they had a couple openings to accommodate us. When we arrived we were shocked to see such a nice park with lots of amenities. Our site had 50 amp service with full hookups. We walked all around the park (200 acres) and checked out the other sites. The new section is full hookup and all concrete and pavement. They have a water feature at this park for kids and it was a hit. They have a disc golf course that seemed to have some action on it as well. We saw plenty of people fishing around the lake but not many were catching. We did not need to use the bathrooms and did not check them out. When the camp ground fills up you tend to hear a lot of neighbor noise. We would stay here again for sure.

We stayed here one night while traveling through Southern California. The campground is divided into two sections. The older section (which I walked through) has gravel roads and gravel pads, and most of the sites have only water and electric connections. We stayed in the newer section, which has wide paved roads and is populated with full hookup pull-through and back-in sites. All of the sites have level concrete pads with a small concrete patio section, a picnic table, and a fire pit. The spacing between sites is excellent, and the sites are clustered in a way that leaves gaps in the row: if you’re on the end of a cluster like we were in site 206, one of your neighbors may be as far as 50 yards away. All of the sites are surrounded by grass (which are watered by sprinklers) and some have trees that provide a little shade. Each campground section has a bathhouse with bathrooms and showers. The bathhouse in the newer section also has laundry facilities: we didn’t use the laundry or showers, but the private bathrooms (accessible via a key code) were nice and clean. There are two dumpster areas on either end of the newer section. The other park amenities are shared with the day-use area: there are least two playgrounds, a large pond, a disc golf and mini-golf course, and a water park. There is a camp store near the park entrance that sells firewood; I don’t know what else they offer. There is no off-leash dog park, but there were plenty of places to leash walk our dogs, and plenty of ducks, ground squirrels, and rabbits to entertain them. We were here on a Sunday night and the campground was half-empty, so it made for a quiet evening. In terms of cell service, the best speed I got on my Verizon Jetpack with MIMO antenna during our stay was about 32Mbps down and 7Mbps up. We had no trouble streaming video the one evening we were there. The one speed test I did with my AT&T phone showed 20Mbps down and 2 up. We would definitely stay here again if we were in the area.

We stayed 2 nights in site 244. We only had one neighbor on the right next to us, the other site on the left was about 25-30 yards away. We faced the open meadow area that leads to the riverbed (no access to it). The pad was concrete, was fairly level and had dirt between sites. Some sites have grass between each site. Our neighbors were quiet and respectful. Although when we walked around the campground, we saw plenty of spots that were crowded and playing loud music during the day. Once quiet time began at 10, we didn’t hear any sounds except a pack of coyotes on the first night who seemed to be having a party. The store has a few limited items. There’s a tired mini golf course that is in desperate need of refurbishing but if you have your own putters and balls, it’s free. Otherwise it’ll cost you $5 to play. There is also a frisbee golf course and fishing ponds. The views of Mt. Rubidoux and open fields with the mountains far behind are beautiful. We were last here about 18 years ago and they’ve definitely made some improvements. We would come back here again.

Stayed in the Lakeview campground with electric and water only connection. Arrived middle of week and not overly busy but by Friday night it got much more busy, not full but close to it. This campground is no frills, dirt pads, picnic tables that haven’t seen a good cleaning or paint in years. Our site allowed us to have a view of the busy small lake. Lots of fisherman each day plus plenty of ducks, etc. One morning had a skunk wander down the road. On check-in they give an access code for the main gate into the park, make sure and have that if arriving after dark. We had to punch in the code several times before it worked. Overall still better than staying in a commercial RV park. If wanting a “nicer” site get a site in the Cottonwood campground. It is the updated portion of the park with wider sites, cement pads, and more grass around sites.

I have never been so glad to leave a campground as I was to leave this one. We came to California to visit friends and family in the Riverside area. We were in the Lakeview side (unpaved) and what a rat hole. They allow 20 people and as many cars that will fit and then some into a campsite. Trash was everywhere! The camp host's site looked like a junk yard and I never saw him do anything but sit in his lawn chair. I didn't even look at the restrooms or showers because if the guy can't keep his own site clean, I'm sure he isn't keeping the bathhouse clean. The sites are dirt with a rickety and dirty wood picnic table and a fire ring. Our site and all the others were full of trash all over the ground and it got worse each day as our neighbors just threw their trash on the ground included baby wipes and dirty diapers.. Obviously nothing is done to the sites between campers. The dumpster was overflowing when we got there and was a complete mess two days later. We had people doing heavy drugs in the campsite to the right of us and at least 40 people partying with loud music until 1:00AM both nights in the campsite to the left. Kids running around everywhere and the people next to us even parked their car in our site. They also dumped their grey water on the ground and flooded both our sites. Yuck! We had to go somewhere each evening and we were a nervous wreck about what might happen to our trailer while we were gone. We left nothing outside, not even a chair. I can't believe that this place has a 8.3 rating as it is just really, really bad. The rangers do not enforce any rules and it's pretty much come one and all and do whatever you want as late as you want. We paid $45.00 a night for partial hook-ups and a stress filled weekend. It isn't worth $2.00 in my opinion! The people who run this place should be ashamed. My husband said they are probably so outnumbered by the riff-raff that they are afraid to do anything. We will NEVER return.

We arrived at a nice guard shack and store. We saw a beautiful rv resort on left “cottonwood” which is part of the county park too but we veered right to “lake view” which is the rv/tent place. Sites were big and had W/E. 6 junky live in RVs we’re cluttering the whole campground....turns out these are the permanent camp hosts. They should have rules for their site appearance. Anyways, we loved the fishing pond, new splash pad, bike trail, natural playground and spacious layout. We’ll come again and stay at cottonwood side of county park!

We came in in a crazy rainstorm. Did not want to get out of the truck but the back in was easy and the site was pretty darn level. (Level enough for the middle of a thunderstorm). Site was big enough. Fire ring, water, electric. There are sites with full hook-ups. Everything is a little worn down or trashy (as in, too much trash). We went mini-golfing. Fun but a super tired course. Man made lake with fish and ravenous waterfowl. Again, trashy. Playground and splash pad. Too chilly for water. Too COVIDy for the playground. Mostly it was okay for what we needed. Except for the parties. Quiet hours not observed. Our neighbors were up until at least 4am.
