(34.8990453, -111.6142219) I think this is the last site on the road for dispersed when you first drive down it east from 17 then there’s no camping for a short bit before there’s more camping spots. Came after rains in September and road was still one of the better forest roads I’ve been on in AZ. Pine trees and wildflowers blooming. Several decent size spots of various sizes. I have a rear wheel drive van and had to issues. Saw trucks, trailers and tents. Turn around spots limited but can find something eventually. I went probs about 2 miles in for this spot. Avenza maps said this was the end of the first dispersed area on the FR so stopped here. Nice big site. More level south of the fire pit but definitely can take some larger rigs. Off-roaders around during the day but nothing crazy. Night was quiet and peaceful.

Would have liked to stay here but the roads were gated and closed with no access on 12-19-2021. Not sure if they are always closed this time of the year or not. The adjacent Schnebly Hill was also closed. Being later at night we just hit the local KOA in Flagstaff.

This is NOT Schnebly Hill Rd. That is the same exit off I-17, but going west. That is open year round, and the road is very rough. This is the road going east, and is pretty smooth for miles. Lots of places to pull off, and the further you go, the further from the I-17 you get. I didn’t know any better and pulled into a spot a few hundred yards in. So I could hear the freeway noise 24/7, as it was only .2 miles away. But I didn’t mind. Tons of downed trees already cut up for fire wood. Great cell service with Verizon. Camp spots are far apart (hundreds of yards), and east drive to Flagstaff (25-35 minutes). But Munds Park has basic goods if needed. Weekends do have lots of campers with ATV’s that drive super fast. This is a very dusty area.

Beautiful National Forest area on Schnebly Hill Rd. Easy access. I went east of I-17, about 1 mile. Why go further? Pulled in on a Friday night and only saw a few vehicles go by. My 24’ Class C RV towed my car, hauling a mini-bike in without a problem. Noise from I-17 is audible, but even though only a mile away, is not bad at all. Lots of great wood on the ground for weeks of campfires. The site I pulled into had a nice fire ring and wood ready to go. On StraightTalk Wireless (showing TracPhone, but using Verizon towers), my LTE signal was always 3 out of 4 bars on my phone. My RV “jet pack” using a Verizon data card, pulled in all 4 bars, thanks to the Winegard 360* antenna on the roof. Love this place. 70*F temps during the day in early November, with 40’s at night. Beautiful tall trees and lots of trails and dirt roads off the main road, to explore.
