We stayed here on our way from Washington to Southern California. Sacramento didn’t seem to have many decent options but glad we chose this! It was a little hard to find but we kept following the signs around the perimeter of the fairgrounds. We drove through and checked it out first; seemed safe so we stayed! The office staff were friendly and helpful. They put us in 407 which is a back in on concrete with full h/u and very level. If you have a motorhome up to 35’ and can back in, try for 402-414 as this is a quiet area off by itself with trees in front and behind you. We were there in off season, no events happening so they were leaving space between sites. This might feel a little tight if they were all booked! The rest of the 400s and 500s are on gravel, mostly pull through. 100-300s are pavement, pull thrus and back ins, not that level. They have a good sized off leash dog park which was appreciated! It is a no frills place without much scenery but they have the basics and it felt safe. Will definitely stay again while traveling through!

Three months ago my wife and I had booked July 9-12, 2022 at Cal Expo RV while visiting our grandchildren in nearby Roseville. I received a voice mail on Friday, May 6th asking me to call their office. I called only to be informed that they were cancelling my reservation because a large group was coming in for the California State Fair and they needed my site. No apology, no "were sorry", no "how can we make it up to you", just zip. Talk about low class. Apparently I am not the only one, while speaking with another RV park staff member he mentioned he had already had several people call seeking space for the same reason. Here's a tip, stay elsewhere because Cal Exp does not honor reservations people make months in advance. .

This would be a great stop for a few days. We were there for a work week and then some. It is accessible to downtown, but it is just a parking lot with no frills. We got lucky and parked under one of the only trees in the park which made it feel more welcoming. We were by the dumpsters but it was never an issue. They have a laundry room but close at 4pm so make sure to make the deadline because they lock it before they head home for the day! ha. There is a night guard that patrols. There is direct access to the bike path which goes for miles and miles and connects to other trails which made our stay really great. FHU and pretty level. Easy pull thru site. Would stay again, but for a shorter time.

We stayed here for one night while making our way down California. We called ahead the morning of our arrival to see if we could make a reservation. They took our name and told us they had sites available, and that when arrived we should pick a spot based on the length of our rig and pay in the morning, so that’s what we did. When I went to pay, they asked for additional information like the make, model, and license numbers of both our truck and RV so that they could put us in their computer system (in case we ever stayed there again). Although it didn’t come up in my conversation with them, I noticed a note on their whiteboard that any RVs older than 10 years were subject to approval: whether that was a new rule or a temporary rule was unclear. It’s a fairly typical RV park for a property that serves as a state fairground. The section near the office has shorter, paved spots, while the section we stayed in was all gravel (streets and sites). Most of the sites are fully exposed to the sun, and there are street lights on tall poles at intervals typical of a regular parking lot. According to the campground map, there is a laundry facility and showers (presumably bathrooms?) attached to the office building. Both sections of campground have access to the fenced-in dog park. We were also able to walk our dogs along the border of the campground along a line of tall evergreen trees. Given our one-night stay, I only did two speed tests with my Verizon Jetpack with MIMO antenna and the best reading I got was about 20bps down and 20Mbps up, and other than the occasional buffering we had no trouble steaming video that evening. The one speed test I did with my AT&T phone showed 38Mbps down and 14 up. We would stay here again for an overnight stay.

They run a pretty tight ship at Cal Expo and staying there put us ten mins from our friend's house in East Sac. Excellent accountability with front office, who checked with us about arrival twice and someone was even there for our late arrival to make sure we got parked OK. Sights are just asphalt of course with hook ups, but the dog park is grassy and nice and security seems good. We were there M Tu W and never crowded. You have to give a cash deposit for a key to the shower, FYI. Husb reports they were "clean enough"--older but well kept. No complaints and great urban cell and OATV.

Great lighting, security, and cleanliness. Stayed in asphalt lot with minor sloping but still able to level rig. Extremely friendly staff and easy check-in. If you have a dog and use the dog park, bring your own poo bags (none provided by park). Nice place to stay for short visits; however, if I was going to stay longer than a week, I would choose a place with more trees. Very reasonably priced.

As other reviews stated - the location is perfect, the park is safe and clean, and the people are really nice. There is a large shaded dog park with lush grass and the park offers great electrical hook ups (along with sewer and water). We stayed here while in the process of locating a permanent spot (this one has a 30 day limit), and when we checked out 3 weeks early, we received a preo-rated refund for the remainder of the month. We would stay here again in a heartbeat!

Cal Expo RV Park is in Sacramento, so if you need to be in the City, this is your place. The best feature of this park is that it is right on the beautiful and scenic American River Trail which is popular with walkers, runners and cyclist (me). From the Park you can ride east to Old Sacramento or west to Folsom and beyond on other trails. I rode about 8 miles toward Old Sacramento one day, and 25 miles to Folsom on another day. The whole area has numerous trails. I would give the Park 5 Stars for its proximity to trails, shopping, dining, and major interstates. Location, location, location. The Park itself is not so great. It's an exposition center, so they maximize space and pack in the RVs. Upon arrival a neighboring camper said, "welcome to the concrete jungle". It is almost entirely concrete, blacktop and gravel. The sites are very close together. Spaces are wide enough for a motorhome with it's awning extended. No grass in-between, no picnic table, nada. We were fortunate to be in-between two rows of trees (in front and back) which provided shade in the morning and evening, but most sites are in full sun. Most sites are level. Some are not. Some are back-in, some are pull through. Full hook-ups. The host are knowledgeable and polite. The restrooms/showers are adequate.

We stayed here for five days attending to family business. The location being central was great. With good lighting and security patrol, we felt comfortable leaving our trailer there all day. Fairly level sites in the gravel lot, but the asphalt lot was slopeing, not enough to stop anyone from getting level. The staff were wonderful and the park was kept clean. Didn't use any amenities. Being urban, strong OTA tv and cell of course great.

We just wanted a safe place to park for the night as we passed thru Sacramento and this worked out nicely. A few complaints: 1) we arrived at 3:47p but the hosts had already left so we were unable to get a bathroom key; 2) there were plenty of open sites but we were assigned a site that wasn’t level, and; 3) this is a parking lot with lots of very bright street lights. These are all minor issues. The access was easy, we liked the nice hiking trails and the fairgrounds was hosting a harness race which was fun to watch. All in all we’ll stay again next time we are passing thru.

We stayed for a few weeks while in Sacramento. The hosts were great, it’s so close to a great biking/walking trail, with flat level sites. It was not crowded (COVID and winter season), but imagine the sites would be tight during busy season. Out of all of the options (we looked at most), this one was the best in the area!

Yeah, we were surprised by the price, but we needed to be in the area that night. It is a big parking lot, but our site was between 2 trees and we had shade most of the day. Nice fenced in dog park with shade trees, grass & water. Laundry facilities only had 2 machines but they were very clean. Did not use the bathroom or showers. The lot is backed up against the Sacramento River levy. Lots of locals use it for walking or jogging. No issues and there are security cameras all around the lot.
