Krause Springs in Stati Uniti

Krause Springs is a private campground that has fabulous scenery. You feel like you're driving off in to an enchanted forest. We were there out of season (Oct 2014) and were the only trailer camper there for the night which was a little eerie. When we walked down to the spring-fed swimming pool and spring / waterfall we could only imagine how busy the place must be in the summer. There isn't much in town so make sure you have your supplies. The Exxon on the corner does have a small grocery and a restaurant. We are big state park campers and typically compare amenities to their standards. Tree cover is excellent. The RV hook-up sites have a nice tall row of trees in back. The tent sites are down a hill and also had trees dispersed throughout. Bring lighting and/or lanterns. There weren't many lights throughout camp other than on the main buildings which could be far from where you stay. The bathrooms were not clean and the showers were cold. I'm not sure if it's because we were there out-of-season and they're not keeping it up but that was a little frustrating. I'm a tall person and the shower stalls offered little in the way of privacy so good thing the place was deserted. There is a curfew at 9pm. They will lock you out if you're not back by that time. I would prefer to have the gate code and was a little annoyed that we had to watch the clock when running out to the gas station. I'm not sure they had laundry and I don't think they had a dump station. (Double check if you do book with them). They prefer payment in cash when booking. Follow the directions to the park from their website. Our stupid GPS had us come up a different way and did not take us to the entrance of the park. Cell service not so good. No wifi. What the park lacks in amenities it makes up for in beauty. I didn't get a chance to tour the gardens by the main office but they looked beautiful, diverse, and well-tended. It's definitely a unique place to camp and would be great for the family in the summertime.

I am a full-time RVer, and I found this place by accident. A dry-camping spot was $15/night, I found a space on a busy Saturday. I believe all sites are first-come-first-serve. There is only a hand full of partial hookup sites (electric, water) but they have a large camp tent area. I was here on a busy hot weekend. The place is full of families with small children, and the tent camp area is full of young people. It is a great family-friendly place. I did have great reception, ATT, T-mobile, and Verizon were all pretty good. I had no problem watching Netflix or browse online.

I absolutely love this camping spot! It is a bit pricey, but for what it offers, and for the distance from Austin, it was well worth it! Nice clean restrooms/showers, man made enclosed natural springs pool and a natural made pool, rope swing, lots of campsites to choose from, and even a cute little garden area to enjoy! I went without my kids and enjoyed my hammock, a nice book, and a good swim, in august, and loved it! Wasn’t too far from Austin, so I was able to go explore the city with ease! But, next time I go, I’ll make sure the kids go so they can enjoy the water as much as I did!
