Yakima Sportsman State Park in de Verenigde Staten

We made our arrival on the 28th of April, 2023, in a 35-foot 5th wheel and occupied spot #35. The space was ample with complete hook-ups. The park was beautifully filled with green grassy spots that were well-kept. Our site had a large, clean picnic table and a fire pit. Despite the park being quite populated early in the season, the nights were peaceful, perfect for a good night's rest. The cellular reception from Verizon was excellent. The park was equipped with clean washrooms and a sufficient number of big garbage bins. A Discovery Pass was necessary. The flat roads were ideal for a leisurely walk or a bike ride. The park had a speed limit of 15 mph. The town was nearby for any shopping needs. There was even a playground for kids. We plan on returning.

Scary limb about 40 ft up directly over the fire pit. About 6” diameter looks small in the photo but it’s a widow maker stay away. Arborist 25 years 🙏

We were on our way to the Seattle area and stayed a night here on the way. The pull throughs (cheaper full hookup section) are pretty close together but they were only about half full mid week in April so not to bad for us. It may be a little crowded on a busy weekend. There was a nice little playground my kids had fun at. It is away from roads so road noise wouldn't be much of an issue here, but some of the sites are close as mentioned before. So you could have some neighbor noise (we didn't). AT&T LTE signal was low (bounced between 1 and 2 bars) but seemed pretty stable. We were able to boost up to 3 bars, speeds were not great but enough for me to work. I think our download test was around 3 down and 1 up. Didn't stay long enough in Yakima too know if there was much to do around the area but it was fine for the overnight stop we needed.

We camped here 2 nights with the goal of fishing with our two teens. Camground is clean and restrooms tidy, 50 amp service at our site. Main issue was nothing to do. River was pretty inaccessible, no beach are to wade or cool off. Park is in the middle of a developing residential and industrial area, just very odd. A camper told us that during the week they have a problem with theft but weekends are busy enough to keep theives out. Yakima is close by but nothing family friendly. I think this is ok for a night if just passing through or if you are a seasoned fly fisherman. Otherwise this ranks near the bottom of WA state campgrounds we have visited.
