We paused at this location for a single evening, yet found ourselves desiring a more extended stay. The place was pleasant and the restrooms were neat, all nestled within a stunning park.

We paused at this location en route to Luray caverns and were delightfully astonished! The campground was gorgeous and well-kept, with lovely areas and welcoming individuals.

Kicking off the year with a journey, this location exceeded our expectations. It's conveniently near I-81 and the park has well-maintained roads. Our accommodation was at Hosack Run Campground where pets are welcome. Conversely, Chinquapin Hill Campground is a no-pet zone. The parking spot was a bit narrow, but we managed to park after a few attempts. The site was flat from left to right with a slight decline towards the back. No need for leveling blocks. Power, water, and sewage facilities were easily accessible. However, the water hydrant's anti-siphon valve had a major leakage. We reported it to the host and the campground crew fixed it within 45 minutes. Exceptional service! Every site comes with a picnic table and a fire pit. The table was a bit worn but still in good shape and the fire pit was situated at the back of the site. The restroom facility is fairly new and well-kept. The park and the adjacent state forest offer activities like fishing, boating, and hiking. The hiking paths link to the Appalachian trail and offer a range of difficulty levels. Mobile network coverage was inconsistent with only one bar (T-Mobile) and we didn't find any Wi-Fi.

Easy to get to, but If you like to camp at RV dealerships, go to Hosack Run in Caledonia State Park. Whoever runs this place must be from New York City, my "site" had two other campers, one on each side. The trailer one one side was so close they could not extend their slide out because it would cover my picnic table! The only reason the trailer on the other side did not do the same was because of a tree in the way. The facilities were poorly maintained and not anything approaching clean. The only thing I will EVER do with this campground is Run, RUN AWAY. Gave it one star because no stars was not an option. I would have had more room at Walmart.

Beautiful, dog friendly sites are away from others, only 3 other campers at dog park, Brand new shower facilities opened 3 days ago, free fire wood due to site clearing, site need leveling blocks or jacks. We got power only, but there are W,S,E sites there. WiFi only at office.Very quiet.
