Avis
Écrire un avisThis isn't a campground where you can just show up and get a spot anymore. You need to reserve your spot beforehand on bookyoursite.com, and you can only stay for a maximum of three consecutive days. The cost was $28 per night when I visited. You can't bring travel trailers, motorhomes, or anything that you pull behind your car. Only tents, cars, Overlander SUVs, minivans, and small Class B camper vans are permitted. And nothing that exceeds 25 feet in length. Firewood is available, but you'll have to pay for it using an "honor system", so bring some cash. There's no water, electricity, or bathrooms here. It's a roughing it type of camping experience. It's a "pack in, pack out" type of place where you're expected to leave no trace behind. Despite this, the campsites are well-kept, tidy, and generally peaceful, with occasional noise from the nearby highway and other campers. A park ranger is on duty and may drop by for a brief hello. You can go directly to your site without checking in. Redden State Forest is a gorgeous location, and even though it feels remote, it's still conveniently close to shops and gas stations in Georgetown. The beach is about a half-hour to 40 minutes away, so it's a good idea to head out early to beat the traffic.

The lush Delaware forests are stunning and well-kept, with a wide network of trails and woodland paths. There's a vault-style toilet and water is available at the main office. Firewood can be purchased for $5.00 per bundle. While there is occasional noise from nearby roads and trains, it doesn't detract from the overall experience. Reservations can be made online for a nightly rate of $28.00.

5 FREE campsites w/ fire pit, picnic table, potable water and porti-potty at the office. Plus, free firewood. We showed up without a reservation (midweek, in March) and had no problem getting a spot but the lady in the office recommended making a reservation. Quiet w/ only a bit of road noise in the distance. Great stop on the way from DC to the coast.

The Redden State Forest has well maintained road, trails and campsites that include a metal fire pit and picnic table. The sites are spacious and firewood is available at no cost directly across from the camp sites. "Junior" Webb is the on site host and forest manager. Terrific guy. There's a spigot and port a jon, it's primitive. It's a perfect spot to stay and enjoy nearby beaches and shopping. I'll be back.

Awesome We Stayed here over Thanksgiving, had the whole place to ourselves! With all the firewood you could burn. Great time with the family. And it was free. Doesn’t get much better?
