We tried to stay here overnight on our way west. We found the campground by following signs going north on Hwy 70/139. This is a rustic campground with 6 sites. Site 4 was the only one long enough for us to fit. We disconnected the toad and backed in but there was no way we would even come close to level so we abandoned our plans. None of the sites looked very level, but they were close to the lake. There were no other campers there. We found a shorter route back to Hwy 70 by going north on Lily Pad Road (Hwy 70 joins 139 going north a short distance, then 70 goes west and Lily Pad Rd is a left turn a couple of miles in). Lucky for us we found a private campground about 10 miles further down Hwy 70 going west (Forest Pond CG) where we spent the night.

We camped there with a group of friends who were from the area. They camp there often and most of the people in the campground were locals. Most of the campsites were on the water. There were pit toilets and hand water pumps. The lake is smaller but does allow motors and has a nice sand beach swimming area.

Perch Lake Campground is on the shores of Perch Lake, I would say about 30% of the sites are on the lake itself. Those sites generally have a spot where you can beach your boat. The remaining sites are interior, however there is a boat ramp at the campground so you can get out on the lake. The campground is wooded so only a few of the lakefront sites get sunlight for a portion of the day, so don't plan on relying on solar. During our time here in August, the lakefront sites were full most of the time. However the interior sites were generally empty, even on the weekend. Most of the campers were fishermen. That is because there is nothing else to do at the campground. There is no swimming beach nor are there any trails to speak of. If you have watercraft you will find plenty to do. We kayaked all around the lake and really enjoyed it. We did ride our bikes on the backroads, but that wasn't that enjoyable. If you need additional activities Lake St Kathryn and Norway Lake campgrounds are nearby and have beaches and trails.
