Santiam River Rest Area Southbound en los Estados Unidos

This has turned into a parking area for the houseless living in their cars. Well over 100 cars were here. There is a surprisingly high amount of car parking places vs. big rig and RV/trailer spots. There were very few truckers parked in the rest stop but many were parked on the side of the freeway. We did not feel very safe and left as soon as we were rested.

Typical Rest stop. 12 hours aloud overnight. Bathrooms are extremely dirty, but hey, it’s free!

We pulled in at dark and just stayed the night. It is a pretty decent rest stop with a charity group giving out coffee. The lot swings around and there seemed to be a lot of options for parking. It's along the freeway, but wasn't crazy loud. You can't beat the price!
