Findley State Park Campground en los Estados Unidos

We had a delightful experience at this Ohio State Park. Our stay at plot 247 was comfortable, offering a flat pad with a full hook-up and a spacious lot that included a large rear yard. The campground was peaceful and well-kept. We didn't utilize the bathhouse and only stayed for one night. The Verizon service was minimal with only one bar. There were several recreational activities available such as archery, disc golf, and hiking. The park is expansive and we plan on revisiting. It's an hour's drive to Cuyahoga National Park.

I've been a regular visitor to this place for many years. The employees of the park are consistently very welcoming. There are numerous excellent locations that are adequately spread out.

Only here for one night but snagged a place in this very busy park. Over 240 sites. The full hookups are in one area that tends to be much less crowded, more space between the sites, and back up to the lovely wooded area. Highlight here (other than full hook-up) is the bathhouse. New, tiled, clean with the largest private showers we've seen. Hot water, plenty of hooks for clothing, bench, and shower curtan inside the private shower space (there are a total of 4) so you can walk in, close the door, hang your towel and your clothes, pull the curtan and keep it dry while you shower. Nice!

We have stayed at Findley State Park campground 2 times now and even though having many sites there did not seem to be many noisy campers. Most sites are only electric with you using your fresh water tank for water. There are some full hookup sites but they seem to reserve quickly. About half the campground has non-electric sites, but there are plenty of electric sites also. Most sites are fairly level with plenty of space between sites for some privacy. Been going here for 25 years, mostly in the spring and fall. About 100 sites now have electric service as of about 5 years ago, with plans to add more in the future. The mountain biking trail is an easy 7-8 mile loop, but should be avoided in the wet season. The disc golf had the full 18 holes finished about 2 years ago. Still work in progress, and can be muddy at times. Hiking trails are nice, except in the wet spring. The park has been trying to catch up in long overdue projects. They just finished a new water treatment project, nearly new pavilion. The activities / nature center burned down two years ago. Plans are for fixing that. The beach is nice crescent moon shaped. In season they have a watercraft rental there at the beach. The lake is about 100 acres or less. For the most part the campsites are solid gravel back in type. Most are shade or part shade. It's a mixed of hardwoods and pine forest.Be forewarned, 1000+ Ash trees have been removed because of the Ash tree bug. Most sites will accommodate RV's under 35' with a few for big 40' rigs. There are two shower buildings, usually one will open the first week in April. The RV dump station is fairly new. There are two fresh water fill faucets there, but many times they are out of order. There are other water outlets about every 20 campsites. If arriving in the off season and the main water supply is not turned, go to the east side of the maintenance garage where there is a frost-proof water faucet. The maintenance garage is about 3/4 before the campground. All park roads are paved. Campground is located about 1 mile south of Wellington which has a few places to eat, two grocery stores, very large hardware store. Findley is about 30 minutes from two freeways, so it doesn't get filled much during the midweek. The park staff do have a number of planned weekend events that keeps the campground filled in the electric section. Seems to be a lot of "regular" campers that know each other there week to week. Good TV station access with antenna (35+ stations). Many tall trees will hamper getting satellite. Negatives would be shower buildings kind of outdated. The hiking trails have many drainage issues during the wet spells. Positives: New sewage plant, new water fountains, newer playground, pavilion, disc golf.
