Butte KOA

1601 Kaw Ave
59701, Butte
Montana, Estados Unidos

We are midway between glorious Glacier and Yellowstone national parks. Here's an enviable spot to camp, midway between glorious Glacier and Yellowstone national parks. But don't hurry away until you've had a chance to explore Butte. It's easy: Just hop onto "Old Number One," the trolley car that boards next door at the Chamber of Commerce. Berkeley Pit is an engineering marvel, the largest truck-operated open-pit copper mine in America. Mansions of old-time mining barons cluster in Butte neighborhoods. After sightseeing, lace up hiking boots or maybe golf shoes - Jack Nicklaus designed Anaconda's Old Works Golf Course. Fish in streams running near your campsite or stroll a trail. Then treat yourself: The Chicken Shack serves such appetizing fare that locals often drop in for a bite. Pool: Memorial Weekend - Labor Day Weekend. Max pull thru: 80 ft. Your hosts: Joe Tice and Tom Cervenak, new owners.

This campground is in town next to the Visitor's Center and adjacent to the Butte trails for walking or biking. The 30 amp + water site we chose was pull-through and easy to level with some adjustments. The hosts were very friendly and accommodating. They use text to communicate, which is convenient. Communication is an A+. We were able to check in an hour early using communication asking when we planned to arrive etc. There is a dump station that you can use, or pay more to get a full hook-up and dump at site. We enjoyed the evening and morning walks on the trails. The bathrooms were very clean with nice showers.

Above average KOA, nicely maintained, no surprises which is a good thing. Our site was not a premium but was listed as satellite friendly pull thru with 50 amp service. I guess that means no trees or overhead obstructions, which was fine. Concrete patio with good table and a nice looking live planted flower pot. This was a busy weekend and the wifi was working hard. Good enough for emails, but not streaming. Verizon coverage was ok, booster helped, system seemed overloaded.

Great spot for an overnight stop. Office was open late, actually had a great individual or mixed-6 beer selection, large individual bathroom/shower rooms - close to town and away from the freeway noise. Friendly staff and great communication.

We needed a place to stay for a few days as we explored the area and for $25/night this fit the bill. The staff was very friendly. Was told they had 5G but connections were very slow. We had a spot at the rear of the property, which we liked as it gave a bit more room. NOTE: After Oct 1 they turn off water at the sites and restrooms are closed (which probably explains the reduced rate). They did offer the ability to fill tanks from the water connection at the front office.

Another KOA with disappointing Wi-Fi connectivity. In today’s world, more and more of us require this utility in order to conduct work-from-home while in our RVs. Unfortunately, my recent experience travelling across the country from KOA to KOA has led me to conclude that many KOAs advertise this utility, in order to get your business, knowing that you are unlikely to leave when you discover that their connectivity is not at all modern.

Nothing special. Good for a one night stay, if you’re willing to pay nearly $80.

This is a basic, one night only, passing through town place to stay. The positives - Close to the freeway - Decent/Good WiFi - Paved city walking/biking trail next to the park The negatives - Close the the freeway - less than 250ft with minimal vegetation. - Our premium site was unremarkable and as a bonus, one of the most expensive sites in the campground is next to the dump station. (See the photo for reference) - The campground is more or less a gravel lot with small patches of grass except for the area directly next to the office and a few sparse trees around the park.
